Agreed. The Bills d-line might be the best in the league. The challenge of handling that unit might shed light on how best to go forward offensively.

This right here is why I wouldn't mind JT sitting out another game as I would much rather go max protect in this one. I have more confidence in DT and Sanders getting open if Manning is given 3 seconds than having that threat down the middle with JT. Plus the better we can establish the run the better we can neutralize that pass rush for them. I'm going to be very interested in the injury report for today's practice.

Interesting thoughts. Might make sense to have JT active but not play him unless needed.

I wouldn't mind him being active. I just would want to use him in a limited role such as in the Red Zone. Otherwise might as well just let him have another week of rest. Too often I think what happens is these players get rushed back out instead of eased back into games like they should be. Put him on a pitch count and see how he does. No reason to strain his ankle more than needed. Use him where he is most helpful in catching touchdown passes but otherwise don't leave him in for the situations where he struggles anyway and risk the injury. Just my personal opinion. My guess is he plays this week. They said he and Talib both were close this past week but decided it wasn't worth taking the risk. If they were that close then my guess is this week will be even better for them.

So here is Wednesday's injury list. Some good but a whole lot of bad in my opinion...

Here are the players who did not participate in practice because of injury or sickness
Montee Ball, Ronnie Hillman, Lerentee McCray, Jacob Tamme, Kayvon Webster, Wes Welker, and Quinton Carter.

Tamme has a rib injury, Webster and Carter have shoulder injuries, and Welker looks like he was just given a veteran day off

Limited were
Will Montgomery, D. Thomas, Julius Thomas

Montgomery has a knee issue and D. Thomas got hurt during practice twisting his ankle. People said after practice he had a noticeable limp. No real update on Julius.

Everybody else was a full participant.

So the list seems to add a couple names every week. Definitely need to get that bye week and give these guys a week to heal up.

We're weak vs the run on the outside. Contain is bad for reverses. Other than that, we're pretty stout. I expect Manning to have trouble getting in rhythm until the second half...at which point you will begin to blow us out of the water. Orton is so off and on, the pattern leads to an on game, but can he handle the pressure vs personal?

Buffalo Bills.

Buffalo Bill Cody. Or at least I hope and not the serial killer in Silence of the Lambs!

Didn't know where else to put this but just a quick funny moment for the Broncos...I guess they were having the team lunch and Peyton was getting his food and picked up a Chicken Parmesan sandwich and Mitch Unrein went up to him and said "Hey Peyton what is that?" Peyton responded "Oh its a Chicken Parm." Of course then Unrein went "Does it taste so good?"

Not too often somebody gets Peyton but that one made me laugh a bit.

TKOSpikes thanks for the answer. I thought I had heard at one point that it was Buffalo Bill Cody but wasn't sure. You and the other Bills fans are welcome here all week by the way or really any time. Always enjoy getting to talk to the fans of the team we are playing.

What are your thoughts on the quarterback position for next year for the Bills? Stick with Orton, go back to Manuel, or is the quarterback moving forward not on the roster? How much have you guys enjoyed Marcell Dareus? There was a ton of debate back in that draft of who the Broncos should take and I think most were either on the Dareus or Patrick Peterson bandwagon. Von Miller was a bit of a surprise for many.

So going to throw some stats out there for this upcoming game. The Bills this season are 2nd in points given up, 1st in sacks, 5th against the pass, 7th against the run, and 5th overall in yards given up. They boast 3 players in the top-10 in sacks with Mario Williams, Marcell Dareus, and Jerry Hughes.

Now on the flip side of that the Broncos have played 4 other teams in the top-6 for points given up. We are 4-1 in those games. Those teams were the Cardinals, Dolphins, and Chiefs twice for our wins and then of course the Seahawks for our one loss in overtime. We are averaging over 30 points a game against the top defenses we face. So it seems we actually seem to do better in those games offensively at least for some reason. Good to see since come playoffs we will once again of course be seeing good defenses.

More stats to add to this...Broncos are undefeated at home and Manning has tossed at least 3 touchdown passes in every home game (only 2 of the 6 road games has he tossed 3 or more)

Anyway this game should be a really good test once again for our offense. We are definitely coming into the playoffs a lot more battle tested than we were last year.

So listening to Bronco radio as I do some work this morning and some interesting little tid bits about our team came up from John Elway himself. I guess Elway didn't quite realize there was a guy at a banquet yesterday that is a reporter and Elway was being very open about the team with the crowd. Few little nuggets from the conversation...

I guess after the St. Louis game Elway actually went and had a talk with Manning telling him that he doesn't have to do this all by himself and that it is time to allow others to step up and help out. Of course then ever since then our run game has been phenomenal.

Will Montgomery was actually brought into the starting line up because of his ability to run block and especially get to the second level. As we have seen again since he came in our run game has improved quite a bit especially with getting some big runs broken open each game which happens when teams block at the 2nd level. Elway is a huge fan of his so again another guy that is here to stay.

Elway also said that Hillman and Ball have been Wally Pipped by Anderson. What that means if you did not know as I didn't is Anderson is here to stay as the starter. Essentially Wally Pipp is the guy that lost his starting job to Lou Gehrig way back in the day and Gehrig obviously never gave it back up. So any controversy of whether Anderson stays the starter when they return from injury should be squashed. If Elway says it then usually it happens.

Elway also had some thoughts on McManus. They want him back at least for next year if not still for this year. Elway said there is actual talk of bringing him back for kick offs just for this season then having him compete to win the full-time kicker position next year. They are still high on him but just thought the moment was too big for him right now.

I really like this. Obviously the kid has a big leg, if he can just get the accuracy down he could be the next great kicker. I understand why it was time for the Broncos to move on from him, but I would like the Broncos to take a second look at him. A lot of people forget, but Prater was 1 of 4 his first season before getting cut by Atlanta, and he was only 25-34 (73.5%) his first season in Denver. Sometimes it just takes these guys a little time to get comfortable.

That's funny. I have to tell my son about that. He mentioned just the other day that if he ever sees PM he's going to ask him whether chicken parm really does taste so good.

The way the team has played the last 2 weeks is VERY encouraging. I was starting to become concerned a few weeks ago that this was becoming a finesse team. They were starting to rely on Manning too much. Manning is great and we need his great passing obviously, but you're NOT gonna win it all if you don't play physical football. The defense needs to smash people in the mouth, and the running game has to be strong. So it was so encouraging to see what C.J. Anderson did the last 2 games. His running was BRILLIANT. This kid is extremely talented. I believe we have found our RB, my friends. Very exciting! Now the passing game and running game compliment each other. I didn't think this a few weeks ago, but now I believe we have what it takes to beat New England in a championship game.

As for this game against the Bills, I can't wait to smash Orton. That guy plays like a women. He's so weak, he falls down when you just get a fingernail on him. Blow on him, and he'll fall down. I predict a TON of sacks. It's gonna be fun to watch!

LOL I was totally with you til you called Orton a "womens". KO is what he is ... immobile, but otherwise competent NFL QB. Our guys gotta make him pay for that immobility!

Haha, Orton hardly plays like a woman. He has his limitations, but he is far from weak. The Broncos probably will get some pressure on him, and get some sacks. They may be able to force him into some bad throws and make some picks, too. His lack of mobility and the fact that his best weapons on offense are a little banged up bodes well for the style of defense the Broncos play. (This assumes they play the way they did against KC, which is sadly a bold assumption.)

At the end of the day I think the Broncos win this game on the strength of their defense being able to stymie what the Bills want to do on offense. But I think a guy like Orton deserves a little more respect than showed here.

Agree with what you posted, but don't take ATF too seriously. I think that him calling KO a "womens" is just part of his shtick.

Orton never got a fair shake in Denver since so many were excited about Cutler then of course Tebow. I think he is a decent quarterback. Not great but with a good team could do decent.

Keep in mind, one of Orton's years in Denver was characterized by the team fielding it's all-time worst defense ever. That unit in 2010 was unwatchable. Oh, man it was bad. I think they gave up nearly 30 PPG and certainly were a big part of why that team finished 4-12. Orton was certainly to share in the blame for that season, too though. As does every player on the roster for that season. But mostly McD is to blame. He definitely was not the right guy for the job. Personally I think Orton gets an unfair share of the blame for that horrible season.
