Kershaw should be the leading NL Cy Young candidate

I did admit that I was exaggerating about it being a slam dunk... But Dallas still has more innings(even if close), less men on base and less runs scored... That is ultimately what baseball is all about isn't it??

From a CY voting perspective, the innings are a wash. WHIP is basically a wash. No one looks at unearned runs - frankly, that's retarded.

Now if you want to base it on stats voters look at, Dallas has a better ERA, more wins, better WHIP... All he doesn't have is the strike outs...

So, not a better ERA, more wins, BUT more losses too, slightly better WHIP (not sure that's weighted much anyway), and less Ks.

Having so many Runs more than Earned runs is not a good thing, and really shows that that after an error the pitcher has a hard time getting back...

It could. It could also mean other things. When your position is reduced to 11 unearned runs over the course of a season, you're officially grasping at straws.

Price - 2.45
Kuechel - 2.47

Higher doesn't equal better in ERAs.

My bad, was still thinking about my RPG stat which I prefer over ERA... Where Dallas is better than Price...

I don't get why you hate unearned runs so much... Yes, players get on base by error or are scored because of an error, BUT when you have a lot of unearned runs, do you really think that is a good sign for a pitcher?? he has 10 more runs than earned runs... That is a HUGE difference...

Also, if you want to look at WAR Dallas has a 7.1 compared to Price's 3.6.

Also Dallas only hit one batter this season compared to 3 by price... That is an extra 2 players on base... Not significant, but still...

I can grasp straws and be melodramatic too!

Keuchel tossed 9 wild pitches. That's 350% more wild pitches than Price.

Hey, how is the Tigers defense this year? Compared to Houston's? Could that have anything to do with it?

What are the two pitchers FIPs?

I know the answers to all those questions.

I just quickly looked through the qualified pitchers with the top 20 ERAs and found that the average difference for R to ER among them is seven.

"HUGE" = melodramatic.

and I am not sure why you are ignoring the fact that I admitted that I was exaggerating about Dallas being a shoe in and that it is not even close... I do think Dallas wins and has had the better stats...

At least the way I look at it, which is simply, that Dallas pitched more innings, allowed less runners on base and allowed less runners to score. While being more consistent...

Then if you look at the most important category to voters(wins) Dallas has more wins... Doesn't matter how close this is...

And then for the WAR freaks, Dallas has a better WAR too...

Keuchel's start tonight could very well decide the Cy Young race. Price won't have another start because they're already in the playoffs.

It doesn't matter, it's still hysterical.

I wasn't using HBP to do anything besides show that the runners on base allowed is not just the hits + walks where Dallas is better, but also the HBP too... having a 2 HBP differential added to the H+W differential all adds up...

Yes, milkspiller thinks ERA is silly but he also cares about unearned runs. I can't even.
