Tomlinson 2B 24 years old playing in Double AA has value hitting .327 and a .384 OBP. He also has value with his speed swiping 10 bases so far this year. With the Giants set at 2B for years to come with Panik ..Tomlinson might be a valuable piece in a trade to strengthen the SF club. I see this kid making it and doing well in MLB. Good skills.

Over the last season or so, I have thought of him as "Panik + speed".

He was certainly on internal radars entering this year, but hopefully this season has put him the radar of other teams. We NEED NEED NEED at least one more top-end SP if we want to make a deep run in the post season this year, and that means parting with assets we would rather not part with. With Arroyo, Ryder Jones and Moreno coming up behind him, and Duffy, Crawford and Panik holding the big jobs, he is certainly expendable if another team values him as well.

Tomlinson hitting Average 5th in the league.

Duval is also a interesting trade piece at AAA 12 HR's .308

Tomlinson is doing well at Richmond. I saw him for a week at the AFL in October, and was not impressed. He had speed, but had trouble making contact. He had 8 SB and only 1 CS, but only hit .111. And his fielding was atrocious. In the four games I saw, I think he had four errors. I hope he is developing into the promise that the Giants obviously saw in him when they drafted him.

What could the Giants get for Mac Williamson, Tomlinson, and Duval..throw in a decent pitcher? Would like a starter for added protection for Cain and Peavy.

I see Williamson as a DH

Duvall is a DH. MAYBE a 1B.

What makes you think Mac is a DH?

Injuries and he is listed as a DH in stats section on web page.
He has played in 42 games this season and only DH'd 7 times.

Prior to 2014, he had never DH'd professionally. In fact, he was exclusively a RFer (the #2 OF defensive position). He has only been DHing the last couple years because of TJS that he had last year.

He may end up being a DH. I don't know. But there is no evidence yet (that I have seen) that indicates that is his path.

So what do you think of my trade pieces to get a pitcher CAl?

Add? Subtract?

Will they pull the trigger on a trade during the break?

No idea on trades. We don't actually scout the players, so we have no idea of true value.

I do, however, think that we have more equity than the pundits give us credit for, and we will certainly make a trade or two. I am not sold, however, on the "fact" that we will end up with Hamels or Cueto. I think someone like Leake is more likely.

What about a guy like Mark Buehrle from Toronto. I always liked him. He might not cost that much at the break.

Will Clark said last night he was heading down to some of the different minor league teams to scout some of their players. He mentioned Double AA Richmond. I wonder if he is going to do some work with a guy like Tomlinson. Clark was one of the Giants scouts/coaches that first told us about how great Joe Panik would be last year. I am Interested on what Clark has to say about some of the prospects down in the minors.

Speaking of Will Clark that 3 part special they did on CSN Bay Area..Will Clark..Inside the Clubhouse.. a while back was excellent. If you dig the Thrill this show was awesome. Great footage of games past. I still crack up every time they show his HR off Nolan Ryan in his first AB in MLB. When he struts home and points to his family in the stands and walks tall into the dugout . Good stuff.
