Starting a new auction keeper league, what would you're 1st two picks be given the value is what they should be?

Would you still try and grab two top RB and spend half your budget or grab a top RB and get a top WR?

Id say calviin or green cuase you get way more shelf life with top wrs. RBS have a greater turn around time truly live up to the name NFL not for long. if just have to go Rb the martin or Richardson would be logical.

Keeper rules: 8 starters (1 QB, 2 RB, 2 WR, 1 TE, 1 K, 1 DEF, 8 bench); keep 5 players along with the salary you took them at

I've got Richardson in another keeper league but his health concerns me and while I'm very high on Martin, I just think a lot of people are and he's going to go for way more than he's worth

I think it is most likely that your keepers will come from mid-late round picks. I would not worry so much about the first two. They will be important for your success this year, but not so much in the future.

If you land AP for $55, that may be a great value, but he still may not be top keeper value next year. Generally speaking the first couple guys you will get are not going to have a ton of room for improvement to net you a profit next season.

I would look to aggressively pursue young RBs like Bernard, Miller, Bell and Ball who you may be able to get for a decent price and look down the road at WRs like Corradelle Patterson who may not do anything this year. Instead of getting 2 top RBs, maybe grab 1 and be ready to invest in 3 or 4 guys like these.

Also, QBs tend to be pretty safe picks. Find a young stud who you can get somewhat cheaply (Stafford and RG3 could present good bargains this year) and you could have your signal caller for the next few years.

Seconding Tlance. You want keepers who overperform their salaries and have long futures. A talented pocket passer going cheaply now will have more value later - Luck, for example. (Running QBs miss more time and have shorter careers.) And I'd target guys like Gio Bernard and Vincent Brown, who are kinda flying under the radar at the moment but have bright futures.
