He is on my roster bubble. If I keep him it will cost the spot that Pierre Thomas currently holds. Is his potential enough to pass over the right now value of Frenchie?

How long can you hold these guys for? Indefinitely? Then maybe. . Two years or less? I'd drop him.

I can hold him forever. If I keeper Blackmon over Thomas I would go into my draft with two RBs in Ball and Jennings.

I fully expect to draft at least three, two of which will be at #5 and #7.

Sounds good to me, and I like Frenchie and I'm not a big Blackmon fan...if that makes sense.

I will say though, don't shrug off his off-the-field B.S. ...he could be Gordon 2.0

If you only start 2 RB, I may go Blackmon over Thomas... I don't see Thomas to be a long term anything, and short term he is at best a flex... Blackmon, if he ever comes back will be at worst a WR2... I think you can get nice rookie RBs in the draft that will compensate for losing Thomas... Not sure if at this point the opposite is true...

IMO - no. Blackmon is one of those guys that doesn't seem to learn from mistakes. He'll likely always have a suspension hanging over his head. Plus he current hold a roster spot in Jacksonville which is nothing to get excited over. As I see it, there are a number of young talented receivers with as good or better talent - but without the character issues. I think you'd be money ahead to drop him, hold on to Thomas and look to draft one of those up and comers late in the draft.

I'd say no, but Pierre Thomas isn't really worth a stash either. In redraft leagues I wouldn't be surprised if Pierre Thomas was available on waivers at some point next season. He might not even be the top back on a team that rarely runs it. You should keep Blackmon in hopes that he wises up.

I'd put money on P-Train taking over A LOT of the departed Sproles role in the NO offense next year, potentially getting phased out by Cooks in 2015. I think it will be Cooks' job next year, so maybe drop Blackmon and keep Thomas for 2014, but target Cooks in the redraft this year for 2015?

Either way, I think everyone would agree that the Drew Brees dump off guy is a good one to have in your arsenal at RB.

just so it doesn't sound like I'm making stuff up:
Thomas: 147rush, 549yds 2td; 77rec 513yds 3tds
Sproles: 53rush, 225yd, 2td; 71rec 604yds 2tds
Ingram: 78rush, 386yd, 1td; 7rec 68yds
Robinson: 54rush, 224yds, 1td; 0rec

Brees isn't going to stop throwing the ball this his RBs. Almost 150rec by RBs last year.....insane. Ingram and Robinson have very little experience catching balls from Brees, at least when it comes to Sundays. Thomas has a legit spot chiseled out in the offense for 2014, gonna be tough to replace that in the draft, considering it cost you a perpetually suspended WR (which is easier to replace in redrafts) in order to keep PT.

three questions that will answer your question for you...

1. Do you only start 2 RBs and no flex??

2. Do you trust Jennings

3. Is this a rebuilding year??

If the answer is yes for all 3 questions I would keep Blackmon, If any answer is no, then I would keep Thomas...

nice short and sweet way to put my thoughts into a concise, logical solution Milk - even though I'd keep Thomas no matter what, then pray that he gets a lot of action early in the season and try to deal him. Even if he keeps signing extensions, it is apparent that the Saints FO does not see him as their lead dog RB of the future.

at 29 years old and never really a great runner, there is almost no future with him... But he is one of the best catching RBs, so he should definitely be serviceable this season...

I think Frenchie has a good year. Sure Ingram and Robinson will eat into the snaps but Thomas is the only proven pass catcher in the group.

roll with Frenchie for this season and look to replace Blackmon. Who knows - even in a keeper league, Blackmon has a good shot at not being drafted. If you really want him back in 2015, draft him with one of your last picks.

Unless I'm confoozing you with somebody else, this is the league where the top three rounds or something get thrown back, so Jennings would probably be a bench RB for you. If you draft two RBs at the top, the chances of Frenchie starting for you are very slim. I'd keep Blackmon, who would be a tremendous value when/if he's allowed back in - an every-week starter you can keep forever.

You are correct that is how my league operates. My roster is 20 deep and I'm a lock to keep Nelson, Garçon, Cruz and Patterson already. Terrence Williams and Justin Blackmon are on the outside looking in. Keeping 5 WRs would be 25% of my whole team. Ball, Jennings and Frenchie coupled with my WRs would be40% of my whole roster. I'm trying to have balance because I want aback up QB in case Newton does actually struggle this year.

Blackmon would probably be your WR1 out of that group when he plays. Essentially it's a nice group of fantasy WR2s.

WRs being 25% of your whole team doesn't seem high at all unless you're doing IDP. In a 14-slot standard league four WRs would be 29%, and nobody would run with fewer than that.

Also 4 spots are required to be Def,K and 2 IDPs. So that's 12/20 of my roster. I just need to find the best 8 to round out my team.
