Just got a chance to see Straight Outta Compton

Long, but interesting.

I didn't realize Eazy E was just supposed to be bankrolling the thing, and not a rapper.. kind of a happy accident it worked out the way it did

This may be a better thread for the entertainment forum. Regardless, I gave Straight Outta Compton 3.5/5 stars. (I saw the director's cut). I enjoyed the first half immensely, very action-packed and depicted Compton at the time properly. The second half dragged a bit I thought.

Paul Giamatti is a great actor, and he was great as Heller. Ice Cube's son was great too.

And we stopped in at the beginning of this movie. Watched the the whole thing. Was great. Figured the threater owed me one.

It was a bit long.. but subsequent to Ice Cube leaving the story line splintered into several different parts, and it wouldnt have made sense without touching on all of them.

I just thought it was interesting they weren't interested in rapping, they were trying to start a label, and the talent they brought in didn't like the lyrics Ice Cube wrote.

Coincidentally, back in '93 me and a buddy bought tickets to "Groundhog Day" with full intent of watching "CB4" instead. "CB4" is a "Straight Outta Compton" spoof 22 years before its time. Unfortunately for us, some dingleberry theater attendant spotted a couple fifteen-year-olds entering the R-rated movie and booted us over to the movie we bought tickets for.

Most people will agree that the attendant did us a favor, but I will forever be salty towards "Groundhog Day" because it's not the movie we wanted to see.
