Has to be the "high-n-in" fastball...NOTHING sets the tone of an AB better than this beauty. Never like to watch Jeter et al "hanging over" the plate while watching MY PITCHER working. Shaving a few eyebrow hairs has a lasting game effect when this pitch is properly utilized. I'm am NOT talking about "beaning" the batter, just letting him know that MY pitcher owns the outside part of the plate TODAY.

With the season just around the corner...

What's your "goto" pitch this year?

If I have a trusted catcher, the splitter in the dirt is my "goto" pitch. Watching a batter load up, and then realize he is about to go golfing as he tries to check his swing to no avail. Nothing better than the disgusted look guys give when they just check-swing struck out.

High and in is a good one, but with more guys armoring up, it takes the appeal of that pitch away.

Jeppers, the splitter has devastating results, but few pitchers can throw it when needed. Love that pitch too.

True, so when you see someone that has it working for them, and a catcher they trust enough to throw that with RISP...devastating.

The "slider"...whether it is in or out...has sent many back to the dugout wondering.

Just keep it down

Bouncing a slider can be as devastating as a 12-to-6 breaking ball.

I don't recommend pitching Sir Jeter up-n-in this season. That'll get you a hate crime.

Best served IN Yankee Stadium I say. If not, that boy will find wood on most pitches, even if he is set to leave the league this year.

Throw 2 "high-n-ins", followed with some "down-n-aways" and I guarantee you'll straighten a batter out.

I love watching Darvish throw that back door slider that starts out 6 inches off the plate and catches the black to freeze the hitter. It's a thing of beauty to watch the umpire ring em up looking.

What I loved to see was Randy Johnson throwing that mid 90s slider that well, was just fucking nasty!

Nothing is more useful and versatile as the cutter.

Very few prior can throw it well enough to justify the frequency the throw it. Josh Beckett is a perfect example.
