Just read that he was signed as the new backup QB. 0-5 record with a 58 passer rating.
All I see is an 0-5 record with a 58 passer rating.......
havent even started yet.
All I see is that he played for a crappy TB team. 4 of those games he started were as a rookie and against the Patriots, Eagles, Panthers and Redskins. Its tough to play for a bad team as a rookie and expect him to get wins. Is he great? No, but who else did you want them to sign?
Kevin Kolb – ARI
Luke McCown – ATL
Tyler Thigpen – BUF
Jason Campbell – CHI
Josh McCown – CHI
Caleb Hanie – DEN
Jordan Palmer – JAC
Brady Quinn – KC
Matt Leinart – OAK
Charlie Batch – PIT
Byron Leftwich – PIT
Kellen Clemens – STL
Rex Grossman – WAS
Vince Young – FA
Sage Rosenfels – FA
Seneca Wallace – FA
Donovan McNabb – FA
A.J. Feeley – FA
Troy Smith – FA
Chris Redman – FA
John Beck – FA
Stephen McGee – FA
J.P. Loseman – FA
There is your list of FA QB's. Who on that list is a better sign? At least Johnson is still young and has the ability to grow.
Hasselbeck would have cost too much money for us to pay a backup. 4 mil a year. No thanks.
I don't want to pay our backup 5 mil this year, when odds are there is no chance he sees the field unless we are down 50.
Hasselbeck could have won the starting job.....He's better than Dalton now, and probably better than Dalton will ever be.....
