I think the Head Coach is the scapegoat in the media, generally because he has an alienating personality. Freeman has a passer rating of 62 over his last 10 games. He was completing 50 percent of his passes over that stretch. As I stated in my earlier post, he was 4-11 with 16 tds and 21 INTs the year before Schiano go there.

Maybe Freeman needed a change of scenery, but he hasn't been playing well there. He deserved to get ebnch

Freeman deserved to be replaced in a professional manner, not by having his name smeared and being cut 4 games in. Schiano and Dominik handled this situation about as poorly as they could have. He's not a scapegoat, he's guilty of pretty much everything being said about him. And I don't hear anyone smearing his character, only judging his performance so far. It's plain and simple, he came in with no real resume and an attitude that doesn't work in the pros. And worst of all he's losing, his way isn't working. He hasn't seemed to earn respect to this point and if he doesn't start winning he won't. The only saving grace he may have is that he got his rookie QB in. He's going to be the scapegoat for the Glazers and Mark Dominik too.....then they'll make another bad coaching hire.

I equate the Bucs to the Chiefs of last season - let's not forget they had the number 1 pick last season and are sitting at 5-0 right now. Though I don't believe the Chiefs are true SB contenders (Alex Smith), with a competent coach and a real QB, I believe the Bucs would look like an entirely different team.

There's no proof the Bucs leaked his drug test. Seeing as they were in the process of trading him it would be disadvantageous to release that information. The sides it benefited were the teams interested in him. I will say whoever leaked that information (Bucs, Freeman's agent, another team) were in the wrong. It should be investigated.

Freeman's been possibly the worst starting QB in the NFL over his last 10 games. He admitted to a failed drug test for "taking the wrong prescription meds." He went on to ESPN for an unauthorized interview saying he wants to be traded (during the season of the last year of his contract.) He should have accepted a role of backup QB. He then forced for his own release and got an extra 2 million dollars. Through spin and PR he's managed to make himself the victim.

Schiano's a defensive minded coach and he's turned the Bucs from the worst defense in the NFL to one that will probably top 5-10 in his second season. Even if he's fired (which will probably happens unless Glennon is a diamond in the rough mid rd QB who can play right away), that team is being left in great shape for the next regime. They're starting NFL caliber QB play away from winning. Everything else is in place

I won't disagree with that but QBs like the one you're talking about, in almost 40 years of existence the Bucs have never had him. Will they draft that guy? It may take years before he's actually ready for a championship run.....if he ever is. Sign that guy? That guy likely isn't on the market. Trade for that guy? Sure, if someone is willing to part with their real QB and if they do it will cripple the franchise like the Gruden trade did. I think that they need more depth all around, maybe more speed on O. They need more talent around Gerald McCoy on the D line. Other than that, yeah, they probably are a competent coach and a real QB away from being a pretty good team.

In what looks to be another sad development, Glennon didn't look that bad in his second start. I'm guessing he's going to play well enough to keep the Bucs from drafting a QB with this high pick.

Who's talking about the drug program? I agree that at this point we have no idea who leaked that info. If it was Josh and his camp, hopefully the NFL will fine him for wasting everyone's time with nonsense. If it was any other player they should miss games. If it was any other NFL employee or an employee of the testing company, that person should be fired. If Don Greg ordered the hit mafia style then he should be fired. Seeing that he has his finger on everything at One Buc it would be hard for me to believe that it came from anywhere but him ultimately unless it came from Freeman. But if you want motive, they seemed to be trying to piss him off telling everyone about him being late and missing shit and other things that had no business coming out of One Buc maybe to get him to do something stupid so they didn't have to pay him. It all just seems slimy.

I agree though that Freeman didn't do himself any favors. It just showed what kind of guy, what kind of leader he is. It shows why he was never going to be a great QB. It was never hard to see. I mean, I can't think of one QB with the demeanor that Freeman has that is a successful QB. I can't say that it shocked me that he shut down. You would see him get in funks before and get really down on himself. I figured before the season started that the pressure of these unrealistic expectations that the fan base, the local media and I'm sure the brass put on the team would be too much for him but even I couldn't have guessed before the season that he would fall so fast, so hard. Yes, he should have bit his tongue, did his time and moved on after the season. He's a big ass kid though.

OK, how good is a defense that continually gives up the booty late in games? Yes, they've been keeping the games close. Yes, they statistically are probably pretty high. But at the end of the day they aren't getting the stops when they are most needed. They went out and bought Goldson, traded for Revis, drafted Barron and Banks to be able to match up with anyone. And they are running zone. I mean, they are running fricking zone most of the time. So either these guys aren't as good as they are made out to be and they can't play man up as a unit, they don't fit together, or the coaches don't know how to use the talent they have to the best of it's abilities. No matter the reason there are people in charge over there that don't seem to have a clue.

Good. God.

This guy is worse than Dandypants on his worst day.

No way Ponder is as bad as Freeman looked tonight

Gruden was basically begging Minny to bench him.

Just what the hell is going on in Minnesota? Ponder was good enough to get them into the playoffs last year. When they should be patient and let his development continue, they panicked. He may never be very good, but if they don't give him a chance how will they find out?

Dalton was good enough to get us to the playoffs in two straight seasons. That didn't keep many of us (me included) from entertaining the idea of throwing him on the bench.

Imagine if we started the season 1-5 -- We'd be all for getting Dalton out of there.

A guy who has historically struggle with accuracy issues, learning a new playbook, with new WR's, etc...starting after 1 week, basically, was laughable. Maybe if Ponder and Cassle couldn't go due to injuries, fine...but to straight up give him the job like they did was flat out embarassing. It's one thing for a Manning, or Favre to get that kind of respect...Freeman is not even in the same ballpark as them, though.

To be fair, it was ridiculous for Freeman to play this week. It was unfair to him.

I agree, but they want to replace Ponder so badly they just don' t care how they do it. Will Freeman profit from being thrown to the wolves? Doubtful.

I felt sad for the guy, and I'm neither a Vikings or Josh Freeman fan. Most of his passes weren't even close. Also, it seemed like he got put on his butt on every play.
