Nobody, other than the fact it has been an ongoing issue after ongoing issue for this player before he even got drafted. The trend he is on is for self destruction. Rehab is a good start, but we will see if it lasts.

Manziel = bust in the making. As was stated many times prior to the draft.

well, at least he WENT to rehab.

however, once an addict, always an addict.
but, it's better to be an addict who's willing to acknowledge what he is.

maybe he'll be Doug Flutie one day, maybe not. impossible to tell.

yea, Mike Brown don't like being used by players to get more money, lol. he's got some personal feelings about that shit. another reason he waits until the high rollers are already signed.

just a guess.

Jon Jones went to rehab. Is his career over?

Jon Jones has competed at the highest level of his sport and has won...big time.

Also, before the positive tests, there were little problems about Jon Jones and his lifestyle preventing him from reaching his potential. At least, none that I remember hearing about. And if there were rumors, he displayed such form in the ring, that any notion of hinderance by his lifestyle was made moot.

Johhny Football never even sniffed being an elite QB at the highest level, his concerns were big enough that many teams had him off their boards completely. Red flags were apparent and everywhere. And his play on the field was so poor that the QB starved Browns couldn't even find a way to get him on the field, and once they did he confirmed every notion about him being as far from ready as possible.

You simply can't compare the two.

Saying someone will be a bust because they went to rehab is completely stupid is my main point. If he fails it won't be because he went to rehab. If he succeeds it may end up being because he went to rehab and got help. I don't understand ripping on a kid who finally went to get help.

That I agree with.

I have zero issue with him going to rehab. I'm glad he did it on his own and not after some binge where he had a DUI and killed someone, or something like that.

It's the first responsible step he's taken since being drafted. Too bad it came this late, but better than not at all.

he may be a character bust.
In college he ran circles around people, but unlike Vick, Tebow (stop laughing, he plugged in fine in Denver), S.Young, he doesn't have the body suited to take NFL hits. He has to win with his arm, which means he needs to throw. Look at what happened to RG3, and rg3 is years ahead of him in the throwing mechanics. It will be 2 or 3 years before he can live up the promise of running an NFL style offense. The Browns don't have 2-3 years to invest in a short scrambling QB with character issues. When you look at Manning(s), Brady, Rogers... what do you see. tall, smart, squeaky clean character QBs with great arms, and great command of their own offenses in general.

well, if he ain't a bust, get prepared to buy some flutie... I mean Johnny Flakes. it will be entertaining for awhile until he leaves for the CFL.

Who said anything about him being a bust for going to rehab? Are you making stuff up now my friend?

So you are saying that a mixed martial artists cerebral thought process is that of an NFL QB and should be compared between jobs? Personally, I think being an NFL QB is a much harder "thinking" job than a mixed martial artist. I am not saying the fighter is stupid because he is a fighter, not saying that at all. They can be very intelligent. However, I think the two jobs present very different challenges intellectually, and drugs, alcohol and the addiction wreak havoc on the mind.

Can Johnny overcome? Sure. However, I think the buzz of him being a potential bust even before he was drafted was due to his character, his ego, his size, etc. Manziel = bust is not related to him attending rehab, it is meant to define a pattern of self destruction that is helping prove the pre-draft buzz regarding the kid.

I find myself agreeing with Crash here..... I think the mental demand on an NFL quarterback is tremendous. And it seems like Manziel has a lot of stuff to get in order before he is even ready to let some of that potential show. The NFL has a ton of guys that have overcome addiction or immaturity to make names for themselves..... I just don't know of many that were quarterbacks. Tough spot for him.
