Just think... Browns could've had Kelvin Benjamin and Bridewater/D. Carr... Manziel being drafted could be setting this franchise back quite a bit with the possiblity of Gordon AND Manziel being out of the league in a year or two...

I'm definitely not surprised though... A lot of people saw BUST written all over Manziel's forehead before he was even drafted, including myself... So far, he's proven us all right...

Give Johnny a good offensive line that can block for him and some good receivers to throw to and he can be the next Favre. He can't do this alone he needs help.

He isn't NFL ready nor does he show he is mature enough to even read/learn the playbook the Browns gave to him. Until he puts his time into football (and live up to his Johnny Football nickname) he will never be even a semi decent back-up

You know its sad when the rookie 3rd string QB for the Browns looked light years ahead of Manziel when he finally took the field...

How is this news? The guy left college and figured it was going to be the same thing where he could get away with lazy preparation and put up solid numbers. There isn't a single QB in the NFL that can get away with that. He's got to focus 100% on his job if he's going to make it, which unfortunately goes against everything he's done up to this point.

I'd want the GM fired right now if I were a Browns fan. This kind of incompetence is pretty comical, at best; deflating at worst. In an article Brutus posted onto the Browns board, the Browns execs/scouts pretty much knew Manziel would be an all around dumbass off the field year 1- but they still somehow believed that's worth investing a 1st round pick in...

Can't figure this organization out for the life of me. Seems about as aimless as any organization in the NFL over the past decade or so.

Is anyone truly shocked by this? We all called it when he got drafted!

I remember there was at least 5 posters on this site saying that Manziel was the best QB in the draft bar none. And that he was going to #wreckthisleague...

He doesn't have the talent to be a team's 1st QB, so he's cultivating the bad boy image he started in college while he has the chance in the NFL.

It'll end up making him a lot more money when he decides to just give up the dream of playing much in the NFL. Barely played at all this year, and he still gets stories written about him. That's $$$$$$.

I'm not a fan, but part of me says good for him.

Talent...very true...I'm still amazed that he went in the 1st round, but given that Tebow was taken in the 1st round I shouldn't be amazed at any 1st rd pick anymore.

Popular...yeah...he was Johnny Football, Heisman winner and a really good CFB QB...but the shine will drop off him very quickly if he can make plays this year.

You can be a partier and also be a damn good QB in the NFL, Kenny Stabler proved that. But, when you show up 5 minutes before you are supposed to be there on game day and you are a QB, that is another thing..

Since this isn't the New England Patriots, maybe we're allowed to discuss it without silly accusations of "hate" and "obsession" and "jealousy?" :noidea:

Sounds like his teammate is being honest. JFF was a complete bust his first season (which really was expected by most, which is why he fell so far in the draft). If he fails to improve next year, time to dump his ass.
