this is what led to the rumours that he would be fired after the Flames game if they had lost ... Gillis alledgedly went to Torts saturday and asked him to start attending the game day skates on ice after he took off and left Sully/Gully in charge to re-hash the forecheck system Torts wants

I lose my mind when I can't be on the ice for practice and I am an assistant (volunteer) coach on a house league team. He's a fucking NHL head coach.

lol - You know Burkie loves the Americans, but in all honesty, I think he likes the job Hartley has done this season. Of course, if/when a permanent GM is hired, you would think he would want to bring his own choice as head coach.

In college my head coach came on the ice a handful of minutes late wearing a single skate once, pushing himself out there skateboard style. When an assistant coach asked him what the fuck he was doing, he told him that his foot was swollen and messed up and he couldn't get his second skate on. When asked why he didn't just wear two shoes for a day, he replied "I don't want the kids to think I'm not tough!"
