Joe Namath is in the Hall of Fame. Should Jim Plunkett be there?

Just curious. I am assuming Namath is in there for being more of a cultural icon which really brought mythology to the NFL. Which, from a marketing standpoint was quite crucial.

However his numbers don't justify it. More ints than TDs.

Plunketts career numbers aren't much better but he does have two trophies.

Ken Stabler is also in the Hall with almost 30 more int's than TD's. Wasn't all that rare back then. Namath won the biggest game in the history of the league and in 1967 threw for over 4000 years in a 14 game season which was unheard of. He made the pro bowl 5 times and led the league in yards 3 times. Plunkett never made a pro bowl and never led the league in anything and never passed for 3000 yards much less 4000. Plunkett's coach Flores should get in but not Plunkett.

No. Namath was widely recognized as one of the best QBs in the league his first 5 seasons. Plunkett never was.

Nope, Plunket is not HOF materiel however he is in the hall of very good though.

Not really. They really only had two 4th Qtr possessions. The first was up 3 scores and the second was up 2 scores with a little over 2 minutes left and they basically ran the clock out. The clock was their ally. If only Weeb Ewbank was the Falcons HC...
