Saints sign Forbath. Glad he found a home and really glad we landed Hocker. A bright spot.

Good read

Excerpt

1. Gruden at the half – No, Jay Gruden didn’t throw either of the third-quarter interceptions. No, he didn’t miss all of those tackles as the Jets gashed the defense on those runs to the outside. But as head coach, Gruden has to do a better job of setting the tone for his team as it takes the field after halftime.

Redskins fans remember many bright moments from the Joe Gibbs eras, but one of the most crucial elements of his time at the controls was the way his teams would go in at halftime, make a series of adjustments to either improve on what they were doing well, or correct their shortcomings, and then they would execute more effectively in those second halves and pull off victories. An ability to make in-game adjustments serves as a trait for any great head coach. Gruden has yet to prove he has that capability.

Yes, his passing attack has some nice concepts, when he has plenty of options to work with. But far too often, we’ve seen the Redskins play uninspired football in the third quarters of games, and far too often, Gruden’s charges falter when an opponent hits them in the mouth. The Redskins lack a counter punch. If things are going well, they roll. If things go poorly, they can’t figure out how to fix things. If an opponent figures them out, they lack an effective contingency plan.

The Redskins knew they weren’t going to have a lot of success running the ball, yet they failed to do much of anything to soften the Jets’ defensive front and keep defenders off-balance – very few shots downfield, only one play-action pass, no zone read, next to no misdirection.

Answer for Paea not playing. No doubt dressed because of the injury situation.

I think it's a combination. Does anyone really think teams would stack the box against the '91 Redskins? So yeah I think teams are geared to stop the run because they don't fear Kirk, with that said the OL run blocking has been as bad as the pass blocking has been good.

Feel like I say this every week but it still remains true for me.

Why the heck aren't we seeing more of DY?

It's beyond absurd at this point.

A little perspective

I hate when anyone does that. Well if you take away all of Kirk's INTs, he's a pretty damn good QB. It doesn't work that way. No RB just gains 5 or 6 yards every carry and never breaks one. Can't just cherry pick the big gashing runs and take them out and say "see, without those runs, the D did great". Useless stat.

I do agree that stats can be cherry picked and are useless without context.

This simply applies some context. Not the end all, be all or an excuse. We obviously have an issue with run defense.
