I love that Versteeg gave up #10. Either a classy move or a sign he is getting moved.

Me thinks Versteeg may get moved. I won't be surprised to see if Homer is following the Stamkos negotiations closely. It sounds as if TB may not get a deal done and try to trade him. If that is the case I can see Philly going hard for him. Carcillo is gone. Versteeg obviously would go, Leino won't get resigned. I'm curious what it would cost us for Mr. Stamkos? I still think a defenseman would be better for us but heck let's just see what happens.

I would say yes. However, I would rather bulk up on solid defensemen than one stud goal scorer. It would cost us 4 first rounders at the very least. Granted, the guy is awesome but at that cost it would cripple the farm for years IMO. If only a guy like Chara was available... That's the kind of guy I'd rather invest in to.

No way does LA let Doughty hit FA. I would take him over Weber. I'd love either of these guys. It's going to be very interesting in the next few days to see the rumor mill heat up. I badly want some big defensemen. I'm very worried about Prongs and Timmonen health. Can you imagine a Weber or Doughty with Timmonen and Pronger and Mez. Carle would go obviously. This team would be disgusting. But this isn't the Madden of NHL.

I disagree. 1 stud goal scorer who is absolutely lethal on the POWERPLAY.

Doughty is such a stud. There are very few players I am truly jealous of because they are on other teams. Doughty is one of them.

I think Versteeg wanted to get "his" number, which was 32. That was what he wore with the Blackhawks as I recall. So, for him, he is going back to a comfortable place.

People who are upset with Simmonds wearing 17, get over it. There has never been a Flyer who warranted that number being retired (Holmgren included).

It was given to me, actually. (laughing) I'd never pick No. 32, to tell you the truth. But uh, No. 10 has always been my number but I think a pretty good player's got it so I don't think I'll be getting it any time soon.

Odds are I've owned that hockey card at some point in my life. Odds also are that it was thrown in the trash after being disappointed I did not get a player I wanted.
