Rice admits to ?illegal? use of stickum | ProFootballTalk

I wonder why he felt the need to tell the world especially after he ripped the pats

Not a shock as I posted on another thread. Its usually the ones with guilty consciouses that want to point their fingers at others, to take deflection off them and make them look purer. Just like the little brother or sister that is a troublemaker that rats on their siblings, to take the heat of them. The day I listen to a Ray Lewis, Charles Haley or Cris Carter, is the day I am pushing up daisies. They are the nfl versions or Al Sharpton and Jesse Jackson, worlds biggest hypocrites

I thought Biletnikoff used tons of stickum on his hands and vaseline on his jersey so defenders couldn't get a grip on him?
My dad loved the "bad boy" Raiders, Biletnikoff and Stabler in particular. Funny cuz dad was pretty much a straight arrow and forced me to follow our town curfew for youth that everybody else ignored.

Lot's of players/ teams have cheated or, tried to gain an advantage in some way or another.

When they get caught they're usually punished for said actions.

Stickum is a sticky adhesive substance that was introduced to Hayes when he was a rookie in 1977 by Hall of Fame wide receiver Fred Biletnikoff. But instead of just using a little on his hands to help him hold onto the football, Hayes also started slathering it all over his arms and even on his uniform, drawing more and more attention to himself and the gooey Stickum. In 1980, Hayes intercepted 13 passes during the regular season and five more in the playoffs as the Raiders went on to win Super Bowl XV. Hayes was named the NFL's Defensive Player of the Year. A year later, in 1981, the NFL banned stickum from the league. It has remained banned since then

How is stuckum any different than the gloves they use today? Saw a replay of the Lynch catch down the sideline and your could practically hear the ball get sucked onto his hands.

The way Hayes wore it the ball could have gotten stuck anywhere on his uniform.

DAMN!!!

I was playing slowpitch in Dallas with some really serious players who mostly loved the spray stickum. I bought a fancy new bat and one of the guys ("Bubba", no joke....his real name was Rodney) wanted to try it...I was fine with it, and he got his can out and sprayed the leather wrap down good. When it was my turn to hit, I literally had a hard time dropping the bat when I started to run the bases...it just wouldn't come off my batting gloves. I think I had to rub all kinds of dirt into the handle later to make it less sticky.
It was really fun playing with those guys, I was low man on the totem pole but didn't care because they were so good. I caught a lot, and if you've played SP you know what that means...did OK there because I was big and could handle guys trying to bowl me over or take my legs out. One guy came in standing up with both elbows up, I managed to get under them with my left arm and toss him out of the baseline...we were glaring at each other and might have fought except we finally realized a) he never touched the bag and b) I never tagged him.
We went to the state tournament for our class one year and got eliminated in the quarterfinals, it was a fun ride.

You should know what the battle cry has been for weeks. It does not matter if he had an advantage or not. He broke the rules and their has to be consequences.

Sound familiar?
