I wish more of these ex-players would become owners......They would do the same shit they complain about or their teams would be perennial losers

Richig, I think you need to take a deep breath. It's pretty obvious Briggs was joking about the trade picks and resign old guys. And I don't think there's anything wrong with an old vet who has lost his old buddies and watches he defense collapse around him to express some love for his guys.

I have zero problem with this.

That being said, best thing that could happen to this roster would be to trade Briggs for a draft pick. Ironically.

What team in their right mind is gonna give you a draft pick and player of any worth for Lance Briggs and his

No one. But Briggs is a great candidate for a 3rd round pick in a trade to a team with cap space and need for a proven veteran linebacker. I can think of plenty of teams that fit that description. The question is not whether there's a trade partner, but whether the Bears can stomach it.

Before you start laughing at other people, you should learn hard to read and not put words into their mouth when you try to make fun of them. Otherwise, the laughter may wind up being directed back at you. Just a tip.

It should have read " or " instead of " and "...... didn't have time to edit

Here's a tip.....keep your day job.......

There's is not 1 team in the NFL that will give the Bears a 3rd rd draft pick for Briggs if some were willing. You take it like before reality sets in and try not to laugh too hard while accepting.

No, really, they aren't. You said a draft pick AND a player of any worth. I never said anything about a player of any worth, because as far as that goes, I agree, no team would do that. Now you have walked back to a less-defensible position as though I didn't notice, but you are still totally wrong.

But to suggest no team would trade for Briggs with a third rounder is plain silly. Lance still has probably 3 solid seasons left in him, and he is as good as most LBs in the game. His cap charge is actually beneath his worth, at least as far as 2014 goes. The only - and I mean only - reason that the Bears get rid of him is because they have a logjam at weakside LB....you've got two high picks whose best natural position is WLB, and if you were starting from scratch you would put Shea there also. Although I admit he might work at MLB, that's a gamble, and in an ideal world he's the Will.

So Lance Briggs is a good option for a team in the right situation, and a third rounder is hardly unusual for a player like him...veteran with gas in tank, still playing at high level. The cap just got raised $10 million beyond expectations, and believe me, a lot of teams can afford him. 3rd rounders are somewhat of a crapshoot, maybe a third of them work out, so of course teams do such trades. But for the Bears, even the crapshoot is more important than maintaining the logjam and being tight against the cap.

Leo, don't be such an idiot, don't weasel out of your own arguments, and stop lecturing me about my day job. I'm not quitting it, but it isn't because you think you are somehow outclassing me on a football fan blog when in reality you are acting like an assclown.

Most teams wish people like you were GMs.....Where do you expect Lance will be next year Mr Know it all. Do you think the Bears are gonna givei him close to the 6.5 he is getting....FUCK NO..? Lance Briggs hasn't got 3 years left and no its not silly to think teams won't trade first him, if a 3rd rounder is the price. Will not happen.....I wish we could get a 3rd for him.......its simply a far fetched fantasy.

If the Bears don't trade him (I admit the chances are less than 50%, because I'm not sure Emery has the sack to do it..but not much less than 50%), then of course they will pay him his $6.5 salary, because he is well worth that. What...do you think the Bears are actually just going to CUT Briggs? That would be insane. He was playing like an All-Pro before he got hurt.

I'm sure you noticed.

Sure he probably won't fetch 6.5 mil in 2015. Is your point that we should pay this season regardless counting on a cheaper Briggs in 2015? Although I don't agree, I'd at least say that's the first time you've made sense today, because that's at least a debatable point.

Finally we have something in common.......

We will see if and what type of a contract Emery offers to Tillman after he explores the market.....He also was playing very well
