They are two different people but from the same family of coaches not to exclude being blood relatives. Their styles are extremely similar as is their methodology. The fact that Allen is in fact putting together the ole' gang from Tampa cannot be dismissed. That said, it's not a great leap to imagine Allen wanting Jon who he could not get and then Jay who he could. I'm not saying that Jay did not merit this, just that the coincidence makes one go Hmmmmmmmmmmmmm!!!

As for your last two points, my closing on the previous posting covers that.

too much CSI for me

I agree however, both units (o-line & d-line) need an overhaul. Watch Denver's center today, the guy is a mauler, pushes him man backwards and isn't constantly being beat on passing downs. From the inside out both units need upgrades. Williams & perhaps Lichtensteiger stay and upgrade the rest. On the defensive line, Coefield and perhaps Baker but upgrade the remaining. I think if these two units are upgraded dramatically, the rest of the team behind each unit improves because of this. This is how we will create efficiencies quicker to improving the team in Gruden's first year.

if we are to do this right we need to get the LOS fixed 1st on both sides of the ball

on offense we need 4 new starters . that might not happen year one but we need to at least get half of that

on defense we need 2 de's who can play 2 gap but are nimble enough to apply pressure to the qb

then we would need a true NT

after that we would need corresponding depth

now can the fan base be patient enough to allow that to happen ?

so i am to take this at this point it was an allen driven idea and snyder let them execute it ?

First dad I sent I don't know any of this to be true just thoughts I had. I also indicated that it was a collaboration or Allen idea sold to Snyder.

Hazard's Huddle: Getting To Know Jay Gruden By Formation/Personnel Use - Hogs Haven

here is a look at what gruden runs as far as formations go

notice he had dalton in the shot gun 72 % of the time . RG3 did well with this at baylor

if davis has some work ethic he and reed could be on the field at the same time which we have been pining for

i dont see how the o/line as constituted can run the scheme gruden uses so i expect at least 2 new replacements for starters and maybe the whole back-up situation by the end of year 2

Well lets look at this through the broad lens for a second.

Jon Gruden, Dungy, and Cowher all went on record as saying they were not coming out of retirement.

Jay Gruden was basically the hottest coaching name on the market. We gave him a contract a year longer than any one else on the market generally gives a rookie coach. And mind you we dont even know the numbers yet. So we basically did what Dan always does.

As far as did we get a good head coach. Thats a question you cant really answer for the next 2-4 years. Is he just a figure head to allow dan to play Madden?? Again you cant answer that on Day one. But we will have some sort of idea by the time the draft comes around.

Jaded much? Maybe I am not reading your posts correctly, but almost everything you state appears to have a negative spin & makes it appear that everything is done to allow Snyder to meddle & eventually screw up the franchise. Do you see anything positive with this team?

Not at all jaded. But having seen how many time this whole thing has blown up in Dans face, Im willing to take a wait and see approach. I see more wrong with this current lay out than I see right. And in the end, I think if its not going great, dan will meddle. Its what he does. And to him, the team is a toy. As far as positives.... there are some. BUt its mostly player talent. Not the way the team is run, or the decisions that the front office makes. I hope Gruden can turn this thing around. But I wont be shocked if we are doing the same thing in 2-4 years.

To that point, it is Dan's team, Dan's money. Look, Dan certainly does NOT hire coordinators, he hires HC's. Dan doesn't scheme the offense or defense, nor does Dan call plays. That is left to the football people. It is Dan's job to structure his organization with the help of Bruce and then step back and let the football people take over. Whether he has relationships with the players, WTF cares.

I like the Gruden hire however, something involving Allen stinks in that we kept some of the coaches responsible for our 3-13 season. If Gruden could hire his own coordinators, do you really think he would hire McVay (possibly since Gruden will call his own plays) or Haslett? (I would say not). In any case, I will let this play out and hope for the best...

So are you hedging your bets and saying that if Haslett is retained, it had to be Allen and or Dan making the call?? Supposed Gruden actually wants to keep Haslett around??

so far gruden hasnt hired anyone . we are under the assumption that because coach X was retained it means we are married to them

we are not . i will let the process play out and then we will see where we stand

Skinsdad.. as I mentioned before. Gruden and Haslett are friends. If you didnt plan to retain your friend, why wouldnt you release him as soon as possible to at least give him a shot at finding another gig during the hiring season? To hold onto him with no intention of retaining him would be a dick move would you agree??
