Being an OC is a lot easier than being a HC.

Apples to oranges.
Yeah, and the nfl, you’re going against a top 50 defensive mind in the country every week. In the ncaa, you go against a top 50 defensive mind in the country maybe a few times a year. In the nfl, you’re going against the best of the best defenders. In the ncaa, some of the elite (relative to the rest of the league) defenders on other teams won’t even make the NFL.

You’re really making a silly argument.

So Eric Bieniemy is now one of our assistant coaches too...Throwing names out there like daggers this offseason. To be fair, this is probably the NFL version of "Scared Straight." Eberflus and Waldron were SO BAD that they had to, at the least, react in kind.

Depends on the team and how things are ran. The HC is gonna be the main lightning rod for fan criticism but that doesn't mean the day to day of actually doing the job is any easier or harder.

It was the “sell the team” chant. The mckaskeys want to be bears royalty. If the plebs want them to sell the team, they have to do something to win the fans back. So they tried. Trying might be making moves to get the “Sports Center favorites”, but it’s better than hiring any old jag off.

They’re nothing if the bears fans decide to do something else.

I think the staff being put together is a combo of things.

BJ wanted some of his guys and some guys that he knows he can trust and rely on. And I'm sure Poles wanted a DC that can stand up on his own and handle that side of things so BJ can focus on offense. And it nets a couple guys with coordinator and HC experience so BJ has someone to look to in tougher times.

All in all I really love the mix of the staff.

It's laughable that after decades of bullshit, stupidity, and for the most part a lot of losing that Bears fans still think the McCaskey family cares what they think.

They care about the fans money. They hire a bunch of nobodies again, and they start losing revenue as bears fans quit following the loser organization.

They don’t have any other source of income. They need us.

When has the fanbase ever stopped spending money?

This fanbase spent in the 1970s when the team was horrible and didn’t go to the playoffs.

They spent in the 1990s when this team was horrible and didn’t go to the playoffs.

They spent when it was Jauron and the team was mostly bad. No one left when Lovie’s time went downhill. No one left when Trestman turned it into a joke or when Fox was crap. No one left when Nagy was exposed as clueless or when Eberflus was pathetic.

Why would anyone thing fans are gonna suddenly stop spending money on the team?

The reason we got Ben Johnson is because Ryan Poles is trying to get his ass off the hot seat. The McCaskeys have changed at all.

We got him because he was the best available and can grow our QB.

I don't put a lot of emphasis on the "they need the fans' money" thing. The Bears are a top ten value franchise in all of sports RIGHT NOW. Think about that.

I'm only 46 and go only so far back, but I remember thinking the mid to late 90s were the lowest of the low. Then think about what this franchise has done since our NFC Championship game vs. the Packers in 2010? The only bright spot during that span our idiot kicker missed a game winner and went on the Today show, turning it into a circus.

What's the common denominator from that championship game to now? George McCaskey, who took over as Bears chairman in 2011. How many f*cking times have we seen this guy give a postseason press conference promising change for the better? Every time he, and those under him, have failed to deliver on those promises. This guy comes from one of the most famous football families of all-time and he's by far the biggest loser of that tree and it isn't even close.

Yes, winning helps...but the Bears are worth like 2 billion dollars more than the Chiefs right now and that team has been to the playoffs 10 consecutive seasons with 7 straight conference championships and 3 (maybe 4) Super Bowls over those 10 years. Not to mention they have the face of the sport.

The Bears can most definitely lose upward. They have been already...for over a decade. The "sell the team" thing didn't move ol' Georgey because of money. It moved him because he's one of the biggest f*cking losers in sports management history. I'm sure there's some that contend with him (cough Jerry Reinsdorf cough) But yeah, he's top 10 easily. I assume he wants that to change. The only way he can do it is by getting people that know what they're doing.

We can only hope this time around he got it right by letting Poles/Warren just go get the big names. Sometimes when you suck so bad just doing the obvious thing is the best choice. It looks like they finally did that this offseason.

I still don't expect the playoffs though. LOL. This team f*cking kills me every season. Start off the 2025 season with a good record and some wins against non-sh*t teams then I'll start to believe.

When was the last time the bears fans at soldier field ended the home schedule chanting “Sell the team”?

When's the last time you went to Solider Field and place was empty? Or half empty?

When is the last time you didn't see Bears gear in the top half of the league in terms of sales?

Chants are cool....but do you really think the fanbase will stop spending money? The waitlist for season tickets is like 8000 people deep.

But yeah....chants.

That question might be easy for you to answer, but the people that own the team were seeing their cash cow be threatened. So they did exactly what they needed to to fix it. The McCaskeys aren’t hardened business people who call bluffs. They are a family that is rich because the patriarch was very involved with football and made a successful franchise. Any hint that the cash cow might start to dwindle and they will get off their ass and actually try. That’s what happened this offseason.

The season before this one the fans were chanting for Justin Fields at the end of ther season and then even went to Halas Hall and held signs asking the team to keep him.

The Bears traded him and drafted a new QB.

So maybe chants are....just chants.

That is a false assertion without any credible evidence. I won't even bother reading the rest of what you typed because starting with that is a just a joke.
It’s okay, I’m surprised you were even able to read that far. It must be tough being so stupid.

I was at the Cubs convention and a lot of fans were chanting and yelling at Ricketts to spend more money like the Dodgers.

So the good news is now they have to or they know fans will stop spending money.

So as a Cubs fan I have that to look forward to. Which is nice.
