Interesting, but the guy seems hung up on salary from what I hear, no way the Seahawks break the bank for him.

Jared Allen is a little bitch. I don't want this whiner on Seattle's team. "WAAHHHH!!!! I WANT MONEY!" News flash, you're nearly in your mid 30s and your production dropped last year. You say you want to go to a contender.... yet you want mega pay $s. F off.

Since Ware and Peppers both got 3 years 30 mill, I gotta think that is the starting point for him since his production has exceed theirs in recent years.

Both Peppers and Ware received contracts that completely overestimated their value. Peppers is 34 and coming off of the worst year of his career, and Ware is going to be 32 and is also coming off the worst year of his career. If Allen's asking price is $10m per year I say pass unless it is heavily back-loaded and we could cut him after a year.

If it was something like this I say go for it:
Year 1: $7m
Year 2: $10m
Year 3: $13m

That way his year 1 salary roughly matches his value, and if he plays well his first year the Seahawks have the option of keeping him at $10m, and if not they can cut him.

I thought Ware's contract is fair. If he's healthy 10 mil a year is actually a bargain for a player of his caliber. Julius Peppers on the other hand was overpaid. I thought he would only get 1 year 5-6 mil or 2 years 10-12 mil at the most.

Jared Allen in my opinion is younger and better than Peppers at this point so it's hard to imagine him settling for less than that.

We keep hoping that the "allure" of coming to a Superbowl contender and elite defense might convince guys to take less money on short term contracts but it seems like most guys on the market this year just see dollar signs.

I like jared allen because he is a consistent player he hasnt had a season with less than 6 years I really hope we sign him because that would really keep this D on the championship level I think it would make up for both clemons and bryant leaving

Source is saying the Seahawks maybe trying to work a Bennett like 1 year deal for Jared Allen. 4-5 million.

Interesting...

Can't believe he would sign for something like that.

I agree, with everything he has stated about getting the money or walking away, I cant see him taking it, unless he has a change of heart and realizes this may be his last shot at a ring.

Common Jared… Do the right thing…. You will be a situational pass rusher here and not have the same burden like in Minny with Seattle's D … Your in the final couple years of your career… You have a VERY good chance at a ring here… Nab one!!

I'm a bit confused by this statement. You make it sound like his game fell off the table. He missed his 2012 sack total by half a sack in 2013. Technically that counts as a drop in production, but 11.5 sacks is still pretty good, and other than his sack total, his season was actually better in a lot of areas in 2013 than it was in 2012. I don't want the Seahawks to break the bank for the guy and they're in a position where they don't have to sign him if they don't want to and they'll still be plenty good on the defensive line, so they probably won't be inclined to break the bank for him anyway. If he signs here, great and if not, that's fine too.

I know... I'm just pissed he didn't sign with Seattle right away lol. That was my emotions (and a bit of alcohol) getting to me in that last post. :yahoo:

You don't visit the same team 5 days later unless you are either taking a physical or other type of checkup by team doctors, or you are ready to sign. Anything else would have been done over the phone.
