i guess if he's cheap. the wings have plenty of young players in the fold already. maybe this allows them to move hudler, who is more expensive, free up more cap space for the blue line.

not thrilled with the idea though i guess i could live with it. what line would he fit on? top 6 forwards are set.

The top 6 has been set for 2 years though.....and then the injuries came. Might not be a bad plan. He's already talked openly about how Detroit's euro style is the best fit for him.

As far as being a lockerroom cancer....pfft....all it takes in Detroit to know your role is the first practice. Lidstrom will calmly pokecheck any puck you get and Datsyuk will just straight up r*pe you. Instantly humbles anybody...

If the Pens sign Jags, I fully expect him to play with Staal, as he is the Pens most responsible in his own end... perhaps a Kunitz-Staal-Jagr with a Neal-Crosby-Malkin as the first... I also do not like Jagr on the 3rd line... he seems best suited on the #2, but no Malkin.. no Malkin and Jagr on the same line....

Folks need to keep their expectations of him realistic... I don't think he'll sniff 82 games... I don't think he would fair well on the #1 line going against the best line the other team has to offer, therefore, no Sid and Jagr...

The only way this signing happens is if Mario wants it... this will not be a Shero signing, IMO...

I think this: if Mario wants him, it's happening. I really think that Jags wants Pittsburgh most. If Mario calls him, it's in the bag.

Official Jagr quote: "In Pittsburgh, I played there 10 years. I still have a house there. I was too lazy to sell it." Check the Hockey News Say what section..too funny and did we expect anything else from him.

Also it looks like Bylsma is on board with him coming back but I bet every coach would be.

Were do you folks see Jagr fitting in... my opinion is, he wouldn't be able to handle 1st line minutes or opponents over the course of the year... he's not a 3rd line player, so he seems suited for the 2nd line... but, I don't like the idea of Malkin and Jagr on the same ice together... and I really like Sid-Malkin together.

I guess one thing that I have learned in Danny B's time is, he has no real set lines... so I guess Jagr would play on different lines.

I'm still hoping for TK to get resigned...

TK or Jagr... or both?

EDIT: I guess Rupp is going to test the market?... Any word with him?

Rupp wanted 3 years I think...it was the tenure that was a sticking point in negotiations. I really don't know about TK though. I think he's probably looking for a payday that we can't give for a long period of time. He's probably looking for more than 2 years as well. It wouldn't really crush me if they didn't resign him though. We'd get a few picks back too.

I think TK is a little overrated personally.

As for where Jagr plays, first or second line (really those lines are 1a and 1b). They'll see where the chemistry is and no doubt, like everyone else, he will be shuffled around as situations call for it.

How old is TK... I bet he wants a deal that takes him to age 25 (he becomes a UFA). Well, if I was a player, I wouldn't want to be signed past the age of 25, unless I thought my game was going to decline. The Pens would be looking at receiving a 2nd or 3rd pick... if it ends up being a 3rd pick I would be disappointed because that limit is 1.5 mil and I think the Pens could/should offer him that... if he says no to teh upper limit of the 3rd rd compensation, that means the Pens would get a 2nd rd.. and so long TK. So I bet the Pens are not offering anything over 1.5 million (double hs previous salary)... and I'm not sure if they would offer that...

The Pens should give Rupp a 3 yr deal, at a lower cap hit. If after yr 2 they do not want him, buy him out.

by the way.... will Jammy need to pass through waivers to get to his team of choice?
If so, they will need to pay him enough that other teams will pass.

I have read conflicting reports... one said no, the other said if signed before July 1st yes he'll have to pass through waivers... so to answer your question.. I don;t know... does that help?

The consensus seems to be no.

Yeah, TK is overrated. He didn't start making a difference offensively until everyone was injured.

Yes Jags will have to go through waivers, if signed before July 1st. Which is probably why no deal will REALLY happen until that day.

I just think he's sort of a dime a dozen. Even though DB wants him on the PP this year, it's not like he has done special teams previously. I wouldn't pay him over two million. Potting some extra goals when everyone was out was nice, but he hasn't proven to be consistently at that level, and to be quite honest, I wouldn't be surprised if that's his career high point totals.

Everyone gets attached to these "energy players" and wants to make them into more than what they are. Jeffery has more potential, in my opinion.

Really? I read the one article referenced, but no one else seems to be talking about that and are simultaneously acting like deals are close to being done.

That's the impression I was under from twitter stuff. Because he doesn't have an NHL contract he can sign before FA day, but still needs to be back in the league, so needs to go through waivers. I guess my source could be wrong, but multiple people said that on JagrWatch day 1.

I know I'm on an island when it comes to TK... I love his game, he's on his up swing... and as Pix said, he didn't produce until people got hurt... which to means he's not over rated, but excelled with more ice time and responsiblities and was not dependent on others to make him better... cough cough Kris Letang...
