Agent Petr Svoboda said Pittsburgh, Detroit "plus another team I can't name" are the three options for his veteran client

Gotta be the Winnipeg team, right? They are the only team without a name.

That article saying "he's made up his mind, but just wants to make sure" makes me think it's Detroit. They have more money to give him and don't seem to be questioning if he's the right fit. They've shown more interest in his services. I still would like to have him on the Pens...but it doesn't seem like we're the frontrunner.

I want it to happen so much. Please Jagr, COME HOME.

Twitter is all atwitter with Jagr Watch...seems like Jagr prefers Pitt, but Detroit has more interest and money than Pitt.

He is three years older and fatter than his last NHL season, on which he put up decent but not awesome numbers. he has always had weight issues and is known to not exactly keep him self in stellar shape. Pittsburgh has the Rivers Casino and Detroit has Windso right across the bridge. I smell an epic collapse.....

I just don't get why people would even want to touch that right now, especially two teams with very good, very well established franchises.

I honestly don't see him getting a huge contract so it's pretty good risk to reward ratio.

It's not like he's been sitting on his ass for three years. He's been playing in the number two hockey league in the world. Of course it's no NHL, but he's averaged a point per game in three seasons playing what most say is more free-flowing hockey. The Stanley Cup Finals just featured a 43-year old who was a point per game player in the series and he was not ever as talented as Jagr was.

This is absolutely a no-brainer for Pittsburgh if it's two million or under. There aren't many options for wings out there. Jagr's possible return is better than any of those they could fetch for the same price. It doesn't work out? You bury his ass in the minors, scratch him, whatever. It's not like this is going to have some major impact on the financial future of the Pens. It would be a one year deal. It's classic low-risk, high-reward.

As far as everyone worried about the locker rooms, you really think Jagr as a bit player is going to mess up the chemistry for the Pens? You think Jagr is going to somehow get Crosby off his game, that Orpik will turn into a meek guy who doesn't call out a teammate, that Dan Byslma will stop holding people accountable? I just don't get the logic. While Jagr may be seeing how much coin he can rack up while in the NHL, he clearly isn't going 100% after money or he would just stay in the K. Obviously, he wants to prove something.

I don't know Detroit's cap situation that much besides that they have more room than the Pens, but this seems like a pretty classic Wings move. But oh wait, Jagr the headcase will probably throw Nick Lidstrom's leadership all out of whack, so they better not touch it.

He will not accept this role, at least not in the locker room. He helped make that franchise what it is. With mario as his boss, do you really think he is going to be a good little secondary bit player soldier. Go for it....

Uh yeah. I mean he's not a saint, but he's also not mentally retarded. Does he actually think going to a team with Sidney Crosby and Evgeni Malkin will somehow make him the number one guy on that team? He'd be getting first/second line minutes, so it's not like the role would be THAT diminished on the ice. It's just that it's Sidney Crosby and Evgeni Malkin.

Same with the Wings- Datsyuk, Zetterberg, Lidstrom -- are supposed to hand over the keys to the team to Jagr?

You seriously believe that he thinks that?

If he wanted to be THE GUY, his list wouldn't include these two teams.

I disagree. I'm pretty sure one of the main reasons he left the NHL was because being the go to guy was taking a toll on him physically and mentally. I think he'll embrace a lesser role.

If he wanted to be THE guy he'd also be staying in the KHL...where they name an All-Star team after him.

46, that's not to say it couldn't happen...but at the end of Jags NHL career, he wasn't quite the prima donna he once was. He was certainly that way at the end of his Pens career and throughout his time with the Caps, but honestly, I don't think he's that way anymore. His motive right now SEEMS to be that he wants to prove he can contribute still. That and winning again. That's why he's going after contenders.

Hahaha, to be honest, it's the wings that seem more interested.

i guess if he's cheap. the wings have plenty of young players in the fold already. maybe this allows them to move hudler, who is more expensive, free up more cap space for the blue line.

not thrilled with the idea though i guess i could live with it. what line would he fit on? top 6 forwards are set.

Well, I don't know what the Wings plan is for him...but for him to be affective at his age, he probably needs a talented center to work with.
