He had too much control to get anything less than a bounty

I don't think those trades were necessarily bad (except Yelich), I'm just laughing at the idea he hopes the team will contend anytime soon especially without those players.

What's your opinion of the Donaldson one year deal? I found it a bit of a head-scratcher.

I don't mind it. Has a chance to be a great addition to the lineup, and if he can't stay healthy, it's just a one year deal and we have plenty of good options at third(Camargo and top prospect Austin Riley, and even the best backup plan in baseball, Charlie "Clutch" Culberson)

I think it's a great gamble. Dude was one of the best hitters in the league 2013-17 and even in an injury riddled 2017, he still hit .270/.385/.559 with a 148 OPS+ and 33 home runs (in 113 games). Donaldson had a pretty good case as the Best Player in Baseball Not Named Mike Trout.
