AFter watching what the two players do behind pourous offensive lines can you possibly even compare them?

Just stating what Cosell has said about his game. Its not my comparison. What Cosell said about Kap was brought up here.

But you notice he was sacked six times and often harrassed just like Kaepernick but unlike Kaepernick, was still something like 22 out of 26 for over 200n yards and made some huge plays when protection broke down. That's what I'm talking about when I saya weak offensive line can be mitigated by excellent QB play.
I wouldn't call what I saw as excellent QB play. Their offense aren't very good, their D is keeping them in the game.

Where are we going to get another Russell Wilson right now? Gabbert?

I'd have to hear a tape of it but i don't vbelieve there is any way he could have been as down on anyone as he was on Kaepernick. It was painful to listen to partly because it was so accurate and the club looks foolish trying to deny it.

I was going to post that. RW's skills at evading defenders is unique, probably the best in the NFL at doing that. We aren't going to find someone like that

His ability to overcome that offensive line with no running back help was damn good. He did enough to beat the opposition; Kaepernick did not. Kaepernick kills his team, Wilson keeps his in the game by whatever means necessary.

It really is amazing. I think there was one play last night that lasted 15 seconds because no one on Detroit could get enough of him to bring him down, but unfortunately for Wilson, he threw the ball short when he finally found an open receiver.

I was not saying he was as down. I didn't hear Cosell yesterday. I sometimes listen to him on Podcasts afterwards. He was talking about RW not being a pocket passer. He also talks about how RW makes some great plays out of the pocket but often fails to see wide open receivers from basic plays in the pocket and flees the pocket even when there is no pressure. The same criticisms people like to point out about Kap.

We aren't. What we can get though is someone whose play does not kill any chance of a win like Kaepernick does. Just a simple "game manager" who can get the ball out quickly and make the right read at least a couple of times a game would be a vast improvement.

Cosell and I differ there if that is his opinion.

A game manager needs a good offensive line to block up front. Alex Smith is a great game manager and his career almost ended because of poor oline play.

Just like ours did against Green Bay. Difference is Wilson got his team enough points to win, Kaepernick did not. Wilson improves his team's chances; Kaepernick kills his team's chances.

Detroit only scored three points up till the end of the game. Detroit is what an 0-2 playing on the road? And they still should have pulled it out

Well, then Cosell's opinion is subjective. If you think RW is a good pocket passer you haven't watched many of his games.
Unfortunately I have. I believe he is effective in the pocket and excellent outside of it. His seam throws from the pocket look very good to me. Now Kaepernick, on the other hand, is horrendous from the pocket but even when he rolls out of the pocket he does nothing. He never completes a pass out there becaue he panics and throws it away or runs. He's not looking to make a throw downfield like we saw numerous times from Wilson Last night.

many people disagree with you. He often flees the pocket and misses seeing wide open receivers. I've seen it myself and trust Cosell who watches tons of film.

Sure, any game manager can sit in the pocket and get pummeled. I see all kinds of average game manager QBs winning with horrible offensive lines.
Why would he get pummeled? That makes no sense. If he is managing the game properly, he is getting the ball out and making the right decisions and the right throws. Now if he sits there with the deer in the headlights look like Kaepernick does then, yes, he'll get pummeled.
I think you and I differ on the definition of a "game maager". It seems you see that as a negative and a sign of mediocrity. I see it as a smart player who manages the offense effectively.
