Bears eye Chiefs WR Albert Wilson as free-agent fix

Obviously, Wilson is not the answer to everything. However, getting Meredith back along with bringing in Wilson is a start. He should also come at a decent price. He's 25 and seemingly on the upswing of his career. He had a nice season last year and he brings some experience within the offense.

Inman/Kendall Wright would be ideal #3-4 types as well (I think both come back... at least one of them). Kevin White still gets a shot in camp to stay healthy (again)... but yeah... What sucks about that, is White's skill-set would actually be a great fit in Nagy's system.

As I discussed in the other thread, this was one I thought was pretty likely. Not official, but the motivation is going to be much higher here than there logically. I just worry what the contract is precisely.

Some stuff on twitter just for funzies:

Seems probable and a good fit.

I think the Chiefs are trapped into re-signing Dee Ford to avoid a desperate need at pass rush so they probably will let Wilson walk.

Wilson was buried in the depth chart in KC but with the Maclin and Conley injuries he was able to get enough play time to warrant someone giving him a 2nd contract. He was notably better last year than in previous years imo. There is also a decent chance that Alex Smith just never prioritized him and he was underutilized in KC. Mahomes was able to use him to tear apart Denver's secondary so that speaks for itself.

Trubisky to Wilson? I think we’ll be hearing that all year on our way to the super bowl. Sit back guys, this is going to be fun.

Good. Now we don't have to worry about wasting a pick by drafting a WR. So the morons happy now?

Saying Wilson completes this WR corp is like saying the cherry makes the ice cream. Meredith came off an IR year and his health should not be taken for granted.

We will probably snag a better WR this offseason.

I would rather see this kid than Landry. Both play slot, one knows Nagy's system.

And probably half the price (at least)

Oh, gosh... Half?

Landry is looking for a top 8 contract at the position. Around what Jeffery got.

Try a quarter of that. 1/3 at most.

Notice "(At least)" in my post?

Meaning perhaps cheaper.

Yeah man. I did. I was pretty much agreeing with you. Just adding on to your point by saying that there isn't a snowflakes chance in hell that 7-8 mil per year is in the cards for Wilson.

Jarvis Landry is a rich man's Albert Wilson. Both depend on the scheme to get themselves open.
I also would prefer Wilson on shorter routes as Wilson has much better speed (4.4 vs 4.7, quickness as well) and can make players miss. It's a pretty easy cost-benefit analysis once you get past the name and target sponging that Landry has. You can get a lot (relatively) out of Wilson if you ran RPO's to take advantage of multiplicity in the offense; create a more modern triple option if you will where passing the ball is a serious option be it a screen or otherwise.
