I kinda like it. Our D-Line is looking very strong

Can't go wrong, imo, adding cheap veterans this time of year now that we can have so many extra guys.

Same boat as Hope- might not make the team, but he certainly makes the competition better. I'd be just fine with having a quality veteran like him in the rotation, but he'd come at the expense of either Willie Young or Ronnell Lewis.

Perhaps we'll see a mysterious injury to Lewis now all of a sudden and he'll start the year on the PUP and go to the IR from there in order to milk and extra development year out of him without having to use a roster spot? Maybe a little out there on my part, but I don't see why that wouldn't work...

This move likely means Ronnell Lewis won't make the 53-man roster. Ansah, Taylor, Jones, Young and Idonije is a solid rotation.

At least the same anyway. He makes a good replacement for him. I think we could still bring Corey Williams back and kiss Ronnell Lewis goodbye. Lewis has been nothing but a burden and continues to be.

He's an upgrade over LoJack from a production standpoint. He's a very capable rotational d-lineman who could certainly push for a starting spot. I think with he and Jason Jones both being able to play DE and DT we won't sign a 4th DT now. Go with 5 DEs and 3 DTs...

Me likey - a veteran presence to fill in a rotation position at DE, which was a pretty glaring hole in the lineup. If only they could do the same with an LT - I am very, very nervous about the tackles going into this season.

I really hope that im not wrong about this but for some reason I am not worried about our tackles but on the note of this signing I was thrilled when this came across my phone love to add veteran talent even better when they can play as good as he can which gets me to wonder anyone know why they let him go??

Almost started a thread awhile back about the leftovers we could sign. He was one the main reasons. I could see what someone said. Might of been TP. Rotate him and JJ at both DL spots.
Would have liked to see what Lewis had, but if he is released so be it.

Hopefully they can pull off something like I said and PUP then IR him like they did with Greenwood last year...

New Lions DL Israel Idonije had 51 quarterback disruptions last season, just three fewer than Jason Pierre-Paul.


Idonije did his damage on 56 less rush attempts. He can also stop the run from the end spot and rush from the inside on nickel downs. Although Idonije will turn 32 in November, the Lions stole a highly productive player. Pro Football Focus suggests that this year's defensive line might be better than the 2010 unit that graded out best in the entire league.
