Finishing 3rd in the Conf with the injuries leads me to believe they have a shot.

they have more than a shot, lol, I'm an asshole but I have common sense.

It is tough to settle something on the ice when one team has no prospect in making the playoffs. Obviously they are not worried about suspension since their season is over before it starts because they are that bad. It isnt like the Pens can call up a bunch of goons and throw away 2 points to send a message. And yes I know they won....

True.

You are not aware of it though. Just by saying that you are aware of it doesn't make it true....

And to people dumbly suggesting this is all about the actual victory rather than the violence...who are kidding? I'll just think you're trying to rationalize your beliefs because I can't honestly believe anyone is that stupid.

Nobody suggested that it is ALL about the victory. It's another factor. Just like previous Isles-Pens games were another factor. You talk about bias, but how about quoting someone's actual statement rather than BIASING it by (a) mistating their actual position and (b) calling them stupid/dumb while you do it?

There's this amazing feature called a quote button. But I'm not going to be insulted and misquoted b/c your upset about this viewing party or whatever it is. And if you don't believe, that's fine. Don't believe me. I can't say anything to convince you of that except to explain my reasoning, which I've already done. This thread has been a civil, interesting discussion. No need to ruin it and hurl insults. Good grief.

I actually thought Jeff was the one more implying that it was moreso about the victory, not you, which is why I didn't quote you.

I swear you have been on the record before as anti-fighting/glorifying violence, so your opinion now is hard to believe. I'm sure it's just coincidence that the Pens are involved, but I doubt anyone would believe me if I was adamantly defending the Panthers in a similar situation with Panthers-Flyers.

I, on the other hand, love it. Only thing I ever implied was that it was no big deal.

Fighting's usually the tool that keeps games like that from happening. Now what do we do? I don't want Gary to get involved in this!

I don't like the league got involved and I don't like that the team ever promoted. I do feel bad for the Isles fans (ironically) because this would have been fine as just a fan-promoted event.

After backlash arose when word spread of the New York Islanders' plans to rebroadcast their brawl-filled game against the Pittsburgh Penguins at a fan viewing party, the team altered its plans.

At the request of the Islanders, MSG Network will now air a game against the Buffalo Sabres in which Michael Grabner scored a hat trick to win the game. SI.com was the first to report the change.

The MSG Network is airing eight Islanders games from last season throughout the summer, and the team scheduled a viewing party for each game.

The last sentence here makes this whole issue kind of ridiculous, especially when you only have 30 actual wins to choose from. I guess the Penguins blogs didn't investigate that before complaining about the event or didn't mention it before they encouraged people to make fake RSVPs for the event to fuck with the Isles.

And in the interest of full disclosure, I am terribly biased against the Pens' most prominent blogs. I think they are AWFUL and among the worst in the NHL, which is a sad representation for what I typically think is a very GOOD fan base.

All that said, they picked another game to air and it isn't that big of a deal that they did so. Just like it shouldn't have been a big deal to the bloggers in the first place.

Huh? We're not talking about a media outlet, here. We're talking about bloggers. They have no censor. I don't know what you expect from them. If you are a fan of the opponent, and you read a Penguin blog, they're not likely going to be typing nice stories about your squad, or any other.

ThePensBlog, I'm sure is high on your hate list. Seeing that you are obviously not in any way shape, or form, a Penguin supporter, your distaste of that blog is to be expected. In any case, why would you read it? You know what you're getting before you visit that site.

Urgh, to each his/her own I guess. I'll be happy if I never see another "hockey" game like that for as long as I live. Give me hard legal checks, not sucker punches and concussions.

100% agree. I refuse to read those fucking things.

It's as bad as the die hard Steelers fans with their terrible towels.

Before i get flamed for this i am a Pittsburgh fan but i understand the teams i support should be criticized at times. These bloggers/towel waving lunatics don't seem to understand this at all.

Example, Lendale White and Fat Albert Haynesworth stomped a terrible towel. They were public enemies #1 in Pittsburgh. WHY??? It's a towel for goodness sake. JMO.

evolver makes a very good point - Aside from this board, I frequent Calgarypuck because it's a great board for Calgary Flames related news and general NHL updates. The board is also frequented by several Canucks fans and some of those fans get really upset at slams directed at Canucks players and towards the team in general. It makes me wonder why they would visit the board in the first place, because as evolver points out above, you should know what you're getting before you visit the site. I mean, I'm sure the Flames are slammed hard on Canucks.com, but guess what, I don't visit that site and thus, don't care what they post.
