In any case, why would you read it?

Because I like to learn more about other teams. I find it interesting sometimes. Blogs can be informative and interesting, and occassionally they actually scoop the big boys (the papers) for a story. For the Caps, a blog called Japer's Rink is really on top of things - they have great in-depth analysis of stats the Post would never do, they have good round table discussions, and they provide links to basically anything and everything you'd want to read about the Caps on a given day.

Yes, they have no censor, but some of them do have an audience. It's to be expected a blog will feature coverage on the particular team it focuses on. I'm not saying "The PensBlog never writes about the Flyers or 'Hawks" or something only a moron would expect. I just don't think it's a very good blog when compared with some of the other top blogs around the league. It's hacky and negative, and I don't think it represents the informed and gracious fans the Pens generally have. That's my opinion - which is I guess something I can't have if I'm not a Pens fan.

I'm guessing you just forgot to add the ... after that one, because I would never tell you not to have an opinion about something. That's what this whole dynamic is about, here... right?

Edit: If you are looking for a Penguin blog that keeps it more about the game, and less about the shit talkin... try pensburgh.com. They're very even keeled, there.

evolver makes a very good point - Aside from this board, I frequent Calgarypuck because it's a great board for Calgary Flames related news and general NHL updates. The board is also frequented by several Canucks fans and some of those fans get really upset at slams directed at Canucks players and towards the team in general. It makes me wonder why they would visit the board in the first place, because as evolver points out above, you should know what you're getting before you visit the site. I mean, I'm sure the Flames are slammed hard on Canucks.com, but guess what, I don't visit that site and thus, don't care what they post.

That is exactly what I'm saying. Some just like to fuel the fire in the belly. Reading an opposing teams' blog will do that for you.

The last sentence here makes this whole issue kind of ridiculous, especially when you only have 30 actual wins to choose from. I guess the Penguins blogs didn't investigate that before complaining about the event or didn't mention it before they encouraged people to make fake RSVPs for the event to fuck with the Isles.

And in the interest of full disclosure, I am terribly biased against the Pens' most prominent blogs. I think they are AWFUL and among the worst in the NHL, which is a sad representation for what I typically think is a very GOOD fan base.

All that said, they picked another game to air and it isn't that big of a deal that they did so. Just like it shouldn't have been a big deal to the bloggers in the first place.

I'm a little late to this, but that line justified a lot to me. I was under the impression that it was just one game being aired. I think that I mentioned earlier that it's no big deal to me if they aired multiple games and the sole focus wasn't on this one.

Yeah, I understand that point. I haven't gone to PensBlog in forever b/c I decided a long time ago it was terrible and just kind of negative. But bloggers are the ones who raised a ruckus on this issue that the NHL ultimately peaked into. That's where it intersected with this debate.
