It's a legitimate accomplishment. The Huskies regularly play several of the other best women's teams each season. It's not UConn's fault that the rest of women's basketball has failed to keep up. sadly, the game is not as competitive - especially at the top - as it was a few years ago.

yeah man, if you're gonna be a an asshole or a rat fink....just own it.

Exactly. I mean how can people now take him seriously when he says things like, "we take this situation very seriously and will take measures to make sure it doesn't happen again."

I said it in the Duke board (or college board, don't remember which one now) but IF Duke didn't lose the game after he was suspended then he would have been suspended longer

I love watching a whole game of basketball being played below the rim with a bunch more unforced turnovers and missed layups.

I was looking at NCAAW team stats. Good lord.

Only 4 teams shoot above 48% as a team. 34 men's teams shoot better than 48%.

Rice is ranked 50th in FG% and they're at 43.6%. The men's teams that shoot 43.6% are ranked 227th in FG%.

And I don't think it's because the women play better defense.

This is the worst team they've had since 2012.

The 2 years after this are going to be crazy good.

But Geno isn't getting the #1 class every year.

Teams like Baylor and ND and Maryland get higher ranked classes quite often IIRC.

I will enjoy this, because UConn may never win another title again after he's gone.

Geno and womens CBB is so far out in front of the competition that it's no competition and that's bad for the sport.

Being from TN originally, I admired what coach Summit was able to do, especially in the early days when literally no one cared at all about the sport...she basically put womens CBB on the map.

Geno has taken the baton and clearly took it to another level. but because there is no competition, it really gets lost in the wash.

It's interesting.

Because you've seen some truly great teams roll through WCBB who will never get the full recognition they deserve because they played in Geno's era (I'm thinking specifically of Skylar Diggins ND teams as a classic example).

Part of the most recent run was just how absurdly good Breanna Stewart was.

When you can't play above the rim those numbers are going to be lower. No question about it.

imo...what makes it interesting for somebody that is not a UConn fan or supporter is competition...people like David and Goliath if David wins every now and then...that's why Tiger transformed the PGAT...he was dominant but he was taken down a few times when it mattered.

UConn lost a few final fours as heavy favorites. 2001 and 2008 immediately spring to mind.

They had some droughts where they didn't even get past a sweet 16 for years as well. It's cyclical. This team simply does not have more talent than other teams. So it's more of a mystery.

Maryland, Baylor and Notre Dame all have more individual talent. Which is why i bring it back to coaching.

This team only has one real PG on the roster, and it's a freshman backup.

Yeah, I don't doubt you on the talent on these other teams, but if Uconn wins this season, wouldn't that be like 4 consecutive years...Baylor won it in '12....3 is borderline insane, 4 consecutive NCs is unheard of in competitive sports...that will kill off most fringe fans and that's what womens CBB needs, fringe fans. A small percentage can be cultivated into hardcore fans.

I'm sure that's true but there's also big disparities in 3FG%.

The best women's team shoot 39.7%, the same as the 21st ranked men's team.

The 50th ranked 3FG% women's team (CMU) shoots 35.1%, the same as the 175th best men's team.

I just find the women's game largely unwatchable.

This would be 5.

Stewart lead the team to 4 consecutive titles while she was on campus.

Honestly this shoudln't be a drive for 5. Baylor was easily the best team in CBB in 2013 and somehow lost to Louisville. Who then got stomped on by UConn in the title game, but Baylor beat Uconn that year, @Uconn IIRC.

The 3pt shooting surprises me. Curious about FTs as well.

Brutal and laughably bad job by the committee.

Maryland as a 3 is a joke, and Baylor as the 4th #1 is terrible.

Both should be on the other half of the bracket.

Those are the 2 teams most likely to beat UConn IMO.
