Not a test. But unless you were suggested by someone the person hiring trusted, who knew you weren't an idiot and could vouch for that, you're going to need either a resume or some other type of written communication to get the job. They're not just going to hire you on a whim.
OK I get you. Hopefully your hiring process will weed them out in some manner.

Ignorance of this country, is the reason businesses have to be like this, just to be successful.

This has nothing to do with race, ftr.

What are you talking about...? This is about race, but I specifically put 2 black men there to try and show an unbiased example... 1 who is being arrested has "dirty hair" and an afro similar to Beasley is actually an Ivy League professor and Civil Rights fighter... The other is a cop who murdered 4 people... If you go by the "picture test" you would think the thug is being arrested and the cop to be a righteous man...

I don't think you get why it offends me.

Yes, it bothers me that I believe the people who do it are going to eventually have to pay for it, but it offends me because I also believe the Jesus really did cure and heal people, feed people and raise people from the dead. So why on Earth would someone want to ridicule Him, of all people? Crucify me but leave Him alone already. Hasn't He suffered enough already?

(Of course I realize that unbelievers do not share my beliefs at all. I am just trying to communicate as best I can why this offends me.)

So, what you are saying is that someone who chooses to be a model citizen, law abiding(ok, I've had a couple speeding tickets) citizen their entire life but chose to post a picture of what a perceived Jesus looked like wearing a pot shirt that I "will pay for it", but a mass murderer who 'finds God' after the fact is all good?

And by the way, how is a t-shirt with weed on it ridiculing anyone? Especially where it is well perceived that that someone partook in what was on the picture?

I don't see a significant difference between poor grammar, being disrespectful, shitty posture, or other unprofessional appearances. Would a male politician with long straggly hair who did press conferences in cutoff jeans and a dirty T-shirts get many votes, even if they were the smartest person in the world and had amazing ideas?

You can't judge a book by its cover. We already know that.

Still doesn't change the fact that the guy in the pic Hammer posted looks like a thug.

To be fair a town of 2000 isn't really what I was referring to.

I can understand that, but it is a place with less people who would be less likely to conform to public opinion which is what Montsho was referring to I think...

It is possible to get past what the image your portray says about you to people, and in a small town you can make everyone know you on either a personal level or within a couple of degrees. On the state or national scale, 90+% is how you portray yourself, and clothing plays a real role in that.

But back to business, there are certainly exceptions to the rule there as well. It also depends on your business. There are some where if you aren't perfectly clean cut and fully suited, nothing else matters. There are some where you can kind of get away with it if you're brilliant. There are some that don't matter at all. If you choose not to do what is needed for certain businesses, or levels of business, then your options will be limited, as should be expected.

If everyone you're meeting is clean cut and in a suit and you are in a tank top covered in tattoos, you're going to have problems. That's your choice, and I don't think that is contradictory to anything.

If you are putting your business before your beliefs then you are lacking conviction in your beliefs. How do you get around that truth? It doesnt make you a bad person but it does show that you dont really believe in what you say you do if profit is foremost on your mind. JUst say "I like money more than interacting with people based on who they are instead of what they look like". Lots of people do.

Wrong again and who are you to question my beliefs anyway? Whether you like it or not, businesses are beholden to their customers. If the customers that my business is attempting to attract expect a professional look, then I would be foolish to try and attract them with employees that do not have a professional look.

There is no lack of conviction if my belief is that people can look and dress however they want when they are away from work, but must conform to a specific dress code that is part of what makes the particular business successful.

I have some experience in the restaurant industry. If I am going to open a restaurant that is basically a Sports Bar and Grill, I am going to be much more relaxed re: the look of the servers (the most customer facing of jobs) than I am if I am opening a 4 star gourmet restaurant.

In the Sports Pub, the way that my servers dress and whether or not they have visible tattoos is not going to be nearly as important because it's a much more relaxed and even rowdy atmosphere.

In the 4 star gourmet restaurant, I am not going to hire someone with visible tattoos and I am going to be a lot pickier about how they are dressed because it is a much more upscale restaurant and that is the atmosphere that I am promoting and the type of customer that I'm trying to attract.

Again, you present some nice theories about how the world SHOULD work. Unfortunately, your theories do not work in the real world!!

The Lord has spoken... via Google.
I searched images for "rack of new panties" as a gift for you guys since everyone here seems to have theirs in a wad...
Good-Quality-New-Arrival-Women-s-Underwear-Loverly-Style-Panties-Women-Briefs-Comfortable-Design-EN-38.jpg

And on the same page this appeared (I shit you not)...

I have no idea how that is related to the new panties, it must be Jesus suggesting that you all have a smoke and relax.

I'm pretty sure I also stated earlier in the thread that just because one appears to be a thug, that doesn't mean he is one. Like I said, you can't judge a book by its cover.

So why not wash your hair and try to appear as though you aren't a thug so you leave no doubt with your appearance, anyway?

A guy who looks like a thug is going to be judged a thug by most people and everybody should know and expect it to happen since it will whether it is true or not so why look like one if you are not one?
