BlobMac on vancouver radio re: Rob Rossi

"what you have here is a stupid person not clued in to hockey"

jesus Bob lmao

how does he get a vote?

Jeez, who did Rossi have on his list? It could be that he's just bitter of those years where Sid lost because of (in many Pens fans minds) Malkin being on the team as well, or vice versa with Geno/Sid. Rossi isn't a dumb guy, but it's hard to blame a guy who's job is to cover the Pens for not being keyed in on a guy across the country.

if hes voting on such a major award I think you can blame the guy for not being keyed in. if he cant do it without bias and with 100% total clarity on all players then why be a voter?

Do you seriously think there is someone out there voting without any bias? Bias and making uninformed decisions are all over the award voting, why else would the same folks win the Selke and Bing and name recongnition more than anything.

In all honesty, the fact that the Sedins aren't being marketed down our throats is what annoys me about the NHL. In any other sport, identical twin brothers potentially winning back to back MVPs would be a huge story. Nobody outside of hockey fans know these guys exist and it's a shame.

this is a great point ... heard something like it this morning ... could you imagine how many segments PTI (just using that show for an example) would devote if the brothers were NFL'ers or NBA's ... instead a show like that will only spend time on the sport if someone gets slaughtered tonight in the bruins habs game

Just finished watching PTI, jstew, and they debated whether they could finish 1-2 in the Hart (they said MVP) voting. They both said no. Was only about a 2 minute discussion, but they at least talked about it.

their own PTI twitter account:

Hockey fans, stay tuned for a rarity: the boys discuss a hockey story that doesn't involve a violent hit to the head

That's pretty cool. To be fair, neither of them knows jack about hockey. Tony (on his local radio show) frequently says he just can't get into it and never will.

I think D. Sedin should get some consideration, but I don't see him as being more valuable than Stamkos. I think Stamkos has this one in the bag at this point. For the the Hart is probably the hardest one to give a definitive answer on. Every single team has a player who "offsets" the potential Hart winner. D. Sedin has his brother, Kesler, and even Luo. Stamkos has St. Louis, OV and Crosby have Backstrom and Malkin, Datsyuk has Lidstrom and Zetterberg, and so on and so on. Even the aforementioned Weber has the highly underrated Suter and goaltender Pekka Rinne.

I think with the parity in the league we're not going to see the days of one player single handedly putting a team on his back like we did with Hasek and Jagr.

Daniel Sedin is the best player on the best team in the league, so he should get a lot of consideration, but I think Stamkos is the Hart winner. I know he's got St. Louis, but that's really just about all he has, and those two are carrying that team. Stamkos is the better of the two, so he's the Hart winner in my opinion.

I haven't gotten to see much of the Tampa games...but is Vinny Lecaviler just gone? I mean, St.Louis and Stamkos are having fantastic years, but Vinny just seems very quiet.

Lecavalier hasn't been the same player since he took a huge hit and I think had a concussion back in '08. At this point in his career he can probably be counted on for gritty play, great great leadership, and 70 points a year... and not much else. He's still got talent, but it just seemed like he was a changed man after that hit (don't remember who hit him).
