NU needed a Hail Mary to beat (0-6)(4-6) Northwestern.
They struggled to beat (2-4)(4-6) Wyoming.

Not only are they not prepared to start the season, they don't finish strong. There is a ton of disorganization down there in Lincoln.

Lets look at it another way, and now back, we're no longer under any pressure to win any games left on our schedule this year, including the Toilet Bowl

Difference was TO was competitive and Nebraska was a feared team for those two decades. Not so sure anyone fears Nebraska these days.

Wyoming has had 5 turnovers so far in this game with Boise and they too are losing. It's almost impossible to win a game with 5 TO's

Pops and yet the whole time TO was trying to win a NC, he NEVER had his team finish out ot the Top 25. And many of those years we beat some formidable opponents. In fact his worst season in the rankings came at the time he gave serious thought to Colorado. In 19 of those years we went to a "major bowl".

I don't expect a NC every year or every five years for that matter. But being able to beat ranked teams, go to a major bowl, and being ranked in the Top 25 (consistantly), can and should be expected on a regular basis.

We are Nebraska.

I would really like to know what S.E. is thinking. With the way the team has performed this season and in the past, part of me thinks Bo should be gone. But another part looks at the 2 deep on D and all of the O line injuries, tito's injury and starting a raw kid at QB and thinks, let's see what this staff can do with this promising looking bunch by the end of 2015...

Nah, I'm good. Earlier this season I was all up on the "Bo must go" band wagon. I was seeing a team that couldn't adjust, was soft in a scheme they seemed unable to understand and a staff unwilling to change.

Now what I am seeing is almost the polar opposite. An aggressive defense that has seen the light, adjustments on the fly and changes that allowed them to do so.
This team is where it should be. No coach in the country would have it sitting anywhere other than where it is today. They are young, talented and are making the progress I wanted to see.

You can't coach around injuries and youth.

Meh

Different year, new excuse.

The youth is on the field in year 6 because the upper classmen weren't coached up in years 1, 2, 3, 4, and 5.

Year 7 will begin regurgitation of some conglomeration of years 1-6 excuses, but "at the end of the day" it will still boil down to "Failure to execute".

Bo Pelini = Rick Neuheisal without the hippy.

Look how auburn was able to turn things around, in one off season, I wonder what they did, silly to think we could do something similar. Why would we, our future I so vinous lay bright

I can't see Pelini getting fired this year because of 1) the progress the d-line has made, 2) the injuries and 3) the youth.

And I understand all the arguments and I feel no loyalty to Pelini. THere will be no tears shed here if he is fired.

What I expect though is a lot of changes in his staff though Papoopies may have saved his job if the defense continues to lay the wood the rest the year.

Els definitely needs to go and I would like to see an experienced O Coordinator / qb coach.

I am on the fence on Dobson. With the lines stepping up the past few weeks it appears that they are not as anemic as once thought.

Els, Beck, possibly Papuchis but I don't think anyone would be different there. It is Bo's defense.

I wouldn't be adverse to ELs going straight lb either. Definitely not ST or recruiting.

Great post. I do think that, technically, by next season Beck WILL be an experienced OC. Maybe not a genius OC, but experienced anyway. I have no idea what Els is doing to earn his paycheck. I am sure there is a book or video out there that teaches the intricacies of Special Teams play.
I heard Timmy Tebow wants to coach. Bring him in coach the QB's.
