The big ten would suck ass, and the big 12 would be such a p.o.s. move. Bad academics, bad for travel (athletic teams, as well as fans.)

I'm going to have to disagree. I think that many players go to the SEC to play against the best. The high rated players out of high school usually have big egos and a big competitive streak.

Thats not really what I said. I said they dont go to school to go play against one specific player. I am sure there are a lot bigger things players are attracted to than to when choosing a school.

A little side note to this whole story may be how recruits respond for this recruiting cycle. If Clemson and FSU bolt now and VT doesnt move quickly i think we could lose some traction with recruits and possibly have a decommit or 3. FWIW i really dont think VT will get left out but i do wonder how fast we will be to move.

Oh yeah I forgot but if anyone's been reading the free interviews with the 2012 class on Rivals then you've probably noticed how several players are excited about playing against Sammy Watkins. If Clemson, FSU and others leave then I think recruiting takes a major hit.

As long as we dont get "left out" I think this will ultimately help our recruiting. I was just saying that if we are slow to react in all of this, it may hurt us for this year. Considering the market(s) that VT offers plus a very competitive team i think the chances of being "left out" are very small.

Flip side: a move to one of the Big 4 would guarantee matchups against a half dozen superpowers every year, plus one from the other conferences at the end of the year. HUGE recruiting boost.

If we can just keep more of the VA kids at home and recruit NC and GA the way we always have, I feel like we would be competitive no matter the conference.

Someone might be looking forward to playing against someone but I really dont think that going against one specific player is that big of a factor in choosing a school.

Exactly sammy watkins is just a hot name right now, but if he were to end up being out for the year, its not like you would see a bunch of decommits across the conference.

I would love to see VT in B1G. I have wanted it since 46/2 got my hopes up about it happening last time with all the realignment.

And I wouldn't mind hosting Nebraska fans on a more consistent basis. Very good fans and guests.

B1G >>> SEC

Personally I'd rather us go to the SEC, but I would be happy with either.

I think for the university as a whole the B1G would be better.

I think for football alone the SEC would be better.

My opinions (Big10 vs SEC) as an average non student/alum fan:

SEC:

-Better football
-Better Travel
-More TV money

B1G:

-Academic connections
-Better basketball (not sure about olympics)
-Access to loads more grant money etc

As a fan im all for the SEC but i can understand why the university would be more interested in the B1G. Ultimately as long as we are in one of the power conferences ill be happy.

My guess on how things shake out:

VT and NCst to the SEC

I think the BIG breaks there own rule and gets GT, UNC, VA, and Maryland.

The Big12 takes clemson, fsu, louisville, and ND. +TBD

Really have no opinion about the PAC but i hope that Boise gets in.

Is this all speculation still or are we getting some real words on this?

Except the wrong team one. :( The one at VT was a heartbreaker.

I just dont know if the B1G would be that interested in most of those teams you have going to the B1G. None of those are that great football wise. Someone would have to help me out there bc I could be wrong
