in order to be trade bait, you need another team to want you bait? only 49er fans are rating CK so highly without seeing him in action. yeah, he can get something, but nothing close to what you're implying?

next, the #1 team will pick Luck themselves, there aren't many situations where a team will trade the #1.

as already mentioned, even if we get this far where #1 is on the block, we don't have the ammunition for it, not even close. we have no chance against the other 5-8 teams bidding for him too. while we pick 21st or higher, these other teams are top 10. then you look forward and we'll still be picking in the twenties.

I would not be surprised if Luck didn't want to play for Elway. Just because your great at something does not mean that you are great at teaching/guiding somebody at doing it. An example would be Micheal Jordon. Mike Singletary :). Jim Zorn, and Wayne Gretzky just to name a few.

Elway's not the coach in Denver.

Thats true, those names are good, Jordan couldnt get Wade or James and Jordan got "papeeeeeeeeeeeer" money, mula, scrilla. lol

So?

To put it plainly for you, Luck is not coming to San Francisco except to play AGAINST the Niners.

What if the Panthers get the pick & trade it to the Niners?

For what? A pick in the 20s, then a few more picks that will be projected in the 20s?

Is this where you lobby to package Aldon, Gore, J. Smith, P. Will and Bowman for Luck? ;)

Seeing how Harbaugh has revived Alex Smith's career, I'm excited to see what he can do with Kaepernick's immense talent. Kaepernick played outstanding on an poorly talented UNR team. I can only wonder how Luck would have performed at Nevada. Conversely, I wonder how Kaepernick may have performed under Harbaugh's tutelage at Stanford. Food for thought I guess.

So let's say a team like the Cardinals, picking presumably in the top 7, offers 3 first round picks. What can a team like the Niners, picking in the 20s, offer to top that?

Which is true, but in all honesty the hype that Luck had Eli never had that at all. He was a good QB at Ole Miss but he wasnt the greatest and still isnt. I think the only reason Manning didnt want to go to the Chargers is because he didnt want to be in the same conference as his brother. Why would he want to battle him for a Super Bowl when they could make history and play one another? I think that was a joke

Actually he didn't wanna go to the Chargers because of AJ Smith. Archie Manning called him the "Lord of no Rings" before the draft. Their fued was the primary reason Eli didn't wanna play in San Diego.

Players. Several of them. And more picks. Not going to happen.

Exactly. If we had the pick and had 3 firsts plus some mid-round picks on the table from a team picking in the top 7 what would a division winner, who by all accounts is a QB away from becoming a borderline elite team, have to offer you to be more appealing?
