Is Cody Green really the best option as the backup quarterback?

This is what I've been thinking recently...

Scroll down a ways to read about who should be our second string or maybe our first string QB if Martinez continues to stumble...

Another thing... If our secondary is as good as people think they are, then why not put 9 people in the box against KSU for a large part of the game to stop their running game?

Yes Cody is the best backup and no we shouldn't stack the box, it leaves us open if they do decide to pass...

1. you haven't seen practice and Cody graded very well through the first 2 games.
2. as our linebackers continue to develop, the opponents run will stop.
3. we're giving up 13 more rushing yards per game from last year... (or something low like that)

also K-State isn't that good. I am convinced of this

The only way NU loses to K. State is with multiple penalties, turnovers, and a classic Snyder big special teams play..

Bo and Carl will scheme K State's offense no problem.

if we just load the box all the time against the run teams just go over the top on us, thats what they are trying to avoid, and it works

If KSUs QB isn't any good like some people are saying here, we should be able to load the box and be successful.

I didn't say load the box all of the time, but a large part of the game.

I forgot who, but someone here said they thought our offense is better this year than last year.

I think they're slightly better, but not worlds better. After October 16th we'll know more about that.

I honestly do think we are better this year. on offense

Our O-line has looked really good. (minus SDSU when the whole team looked like shit)

Maybe different people have different ideas of what loading the box means........but yea Nebraska's defense is going to somewhat load the box against KState.

They are 1-dimensional, and Nebraska has the best secondary in the country. We're athletic enough, fast enough, and well coached enough in the secondary that we will see Nebraska focus on stuffing one of the most talented RBs in the country this week.

KState's QB (Coffman) is not a good passing QB......when their run game shuts down, they're in trouble. Look no further than a classic example from last week.............UCF shuts down KState's ground attack, and KState has to scratch out a win at home in the final seconds of the game.

They had 83 yards rushing last week.

One more thing............I would bet the farm on KState attempting multiple trick plays Thursday night

I think questioning Cody Green as a QB is jumping the gun. He has shown effort and ability when he's in. His poor game play in washington was more due to good defense then poor decisions. In his last game he had some off passes but who on the offense didn't play sub-par? I bet if you gave him a full game to play we would be shouting his praise just like T-magic. As a fan you need to watch being swept up by what other "Experts" have to say. If I had to question anything that nebraska or its players have done, I would question why they always run D Rob to the outside when he is a pounder.

I honestly think we have not seen the Nebraska offense yet. I think most of the play calling has been very generic. I haven't even seen the wildcat yet.

Our offense doesn't really have an identity. Maybe in ten years or so we'll have one.
