Unless you publicly hear James support him and say he wants him back, I think he's gone.

If this were any other team without LeBron I would disagree with you... However, I am thinking IF he's not happy with the coach then goodbye coach.

I think he's back. He actually did a pretty good job coaching considering what he had to work with, especially in the last 2 series. I think he and LeBron didn't get along well most of the season, but towards the end they began to see eye to eye a lot more.

Cleveland is going to be scary good next season if most of that team returns and Kyrie is healthy.

Bad options

Lebron wants to keep Blatt, he gets the most freedom with him as coach. He can do anything he wants right now. If they fire Blatt it's not cause of Lebron

Yes he will be back. No way they fire a coach who made it to the Finals in his 1st year and had all those major injuries. It would make Cavs front office look really bad. Now if they don't win it next year he might be gone.

Was this the 1st time in history of any sport that 2 1st year Head coaches made it to the Finals?

This is the owner who publically harassed LeBron James, then immediately took him back ASAP.

1. purguy, when do you get to change your avi?

2. I think there is a good chance Blatt is gone, but more realistically if he doesn't win a Finals next year he will be gone. Which is somewhat funny, if the Cavs don't win a title next year it wont fall on LeBron, they will blame the coach.

What does Blatt do? Just run iso plays for Lebron all game? Everyone who plays the Cavs on NBA2K does that. Not much of a coach IMO.

I have a question for LeBron James that I really hope he'll field someday.

A question that can be asked a variety of ways.

What kind of coach do you want?

Who out there is a coach you'd actually like to play for?

Who could ‎the Cleveland Cavaliers hire that you'd give some meaningful backing?

I don't have the answers to any of those queries. Cavs assistant coach Ty Lue is my best guess.

I know this much, though: LeBron James is too brilliant as a basketball player, too truly great, to behave the way he did toward David Blatt during the NBA Finals.

We literally saw peak LeBron and the corresponding LeBron nadir over those six gripping games with Golden State. He ‎had staffers from the 67-win Warriors almost quaking at night in fear of the havoc he was wreaking, such was his genius in controlling tempo and carrying a skeleton of a roster to a 2-1 lead that actually made you think the Cavs could win it all with Kyrie Irving, Kevin Love and his beloved Anderson Varejao all sidelined.

And we likewise saw LeBron emasculate Blatt in ways that are simply unbecoming of a player of James' legend-in-the-making stature.

I saw it from close range in my role as sideline reporter through the Finals for ESPN Radio. LeBron essentially calling timeouts and making substitutions. LeBron openly barking at Blatt after decisions he didn't like. LeBron huddling frequently with Lue and so often looking at anyone other than Blatt.

There was LeBron, in one instance I witnessed from right behind the bench, shaking his head vociferously in protest after one play Blatt drew up in the third quarter of Game 5, amounting to the loudest nonverbal scolding you could imagine.

Which forced Blatt, in front of his whole team, to wipe the board clean and draw up something else.

The way LeBron played in game 6 vs the Celtics is what is expected from him in a game 6 of the finals. And he didn't show that.

There may not be a coach on the planet that Lebron respects, which makes him uncoachable. Cavs hired Blatt fully knowing that is the case. Miami was the same thing...James didn't have any respect for a head coach who got promoted from being team video tape coordinator. There was event that in-game run-in where James bumped Spoelstra walking to the bench.

Being the best player in the world doesn't give you a free pass to disrespect your coach. I want to like James as a player because he seems like basically a good guy, but he doesn't respect anyone but himself.

Lebron has such the stranglehold on that franchise. Whatever he wants, he'll get. What can Gilbert do if Lebron can opt out and leave every season?

Sounds like the take of someone who only saw the Cavs play in the Finals... after losing 2 of their top 3 players for the season.

The Cavs that finished the season 33-3 and were keeping pace with the Warriors as the top 2 teams in the entire league played a very different offense than what you saw in the Finals. What you saw in the Finals came out of necessity of their roster... and, imo, was the best strategy available to Blatt.
