He seems to think so and the Chiefs don't. Possibly one of the bigger stories of the offseason. Whats your take?

I don't think so.

He's a solid QB and good game manager, although I'm sure some team desperate for a QB would give him franchise QB money if the Chiefs don't.

The Chiefs are already back to being a complete mess. Let them draft a franchise QB with their top 5 pick next year. But with the looks of Dorsey and Reid they will probably try to draft Bette Midler

Chiefs don't seem to have a plan B at this point, so Smith has them in a bad spot. They will end up spending what ever it takes to resign him.

He's an elite game manager, but that's his ceiling.

He is more than Kellen Clemens imo

This poll swung pretty fiercely

I was a big fan of his when he was with the Niners, and a team can definitely win with him as their QB, but he is not worth franchise QB money, IMO, because he's not a guy who makes you think that a team will want to keep him for the next 5-10 years and build a team around him. He's not a QB who you can rely on to make big plays and carry the team, so to speak. I see him as a game manager type. He doesn't make many mistakes, but he doesn't make many big plays either compared to other big time QB's. I think the Chiefs probably see him as a stop-gap until they can find their guy. Unfortunately for them, they don't have that guy yet and may need to overpay Smith.

Damn Kellen Clemens!!! I can't believe he and Rams couldn't finish off that drive against the Seahawks on MNF. Could've been the difference between the Seahawks winning the Super Bowl and the Niners winning it all. LOL.

I think he can be considered a franchise QB but not elite. He's good enough to help a good team win but not exceptional enough to propel an average team to the playoffs.
