Big win for this ND team. Ending the SEC losing streak and beating a rank team and winning a ok bowl game. Good job Irish. Kelly still frustrates me, but Zaire has to be the starter.

Happy New Years everyone. Great way to end the year. Time to drink.

no doubt Malik has to be the starter. He takes care of the ball and is a true duel threat quarterback. I'm just worried that Kelly who has a throwing boner will have Golson be the qb because he is a proven passer. This game makes me feel great about heading into next season.

I was really impressed with Zaire.

He brings a lot more to the table than Golson does. Also, I really liked the emotion Zaire showed after the win.

Outside of a couple break downs, the defense played much better than they had in the previous weeks.

I liked what I saw from Zaire. I am most impressed with the rebound this team made. It wasn't the same team that lost to USC and Northwestern. I really thought we had no chance against LSU. The Defense gave up a ton of rushing yards and really blew it on a few plays, but they did some good things too. I thought ND would come out flat, but they came to play. Also I thought Les Miles would out coach BK, but he didn't. I have hope for next season that I did not have before the game. Finally won a big game this year!

Zaire did look good. The defense needs to get bigger, you could tell they were starting to get worn down in the 4th quarter. Folston looked great but would like to see Bryant step up next year to have a one two punch in the running game. The o line was the best surprise, they played tough all game.....where was this and the end of the season?

Wait a fan of a rival SEC school that isn't chanting SEC, SEC. I like it, the fans of other schools in the SEC should hate Alabama and LSU not root for them.

Did you see Justin Brent during the post game celebration? I'm a pretty good lip reader and I think he said "let's get us some pr0n stars!"

Pleasantly surprised for a change. I am hoping against hope that Kelly will look at today's game and all of 2012 and finally figure out that a solid run game takes the pressure off the QB and the defense and between today's game and pretty much all of 2012 it yielded great results.

Still in semi-shock!

I never expected a performance from our guys like that.

Dunno what Kelly did that lit a fire under the O-line's ass but it worked. WOW! Best game that group played all year and, to me, was the biggest decider of this win. I wish I know where they were all season long. They did this against an elite D, too.

Big time impressed with Malik's abilities. Dude made some really great decisions, especially when he tucked it and ran.

Tis what happens when we don't turn the damn ball over and Kelly decides not to abandon the run.

HAPPY BIRTHDAY BRO! :suds:

Thanks It was a great win against a very good and super talented LSU team, maybe not at QB but the SEC doesn't have a lot of elite QB's this year.

Yeah because we were playing with kids on the 3rd and 4th depth chart. Once healthy our D will be fine just like the 1st 6 weeks. Im not worried about the D. Im more worried about who Kelly starts at QB. Zaire even looked better throwing the ball the Golson.

Finally got to watch the full game today. Really played well outside those 4 or so 50+ yard plays. Next year with Zaire at the helm should be fun.

I honestly thought LSU would run over the Irish. Nice to go into the off season on a positive note.

Long time no chat gents...

I too was surprised at how the team played and was happy to see that the team got a win, I think it matters a lot when you're building confidence (not for those that have confidence already but for those that don't). It's always a positive to add a W to the University's Bowl Record.

I was sorry to hear about your health issues in the other thread Whywork, I hope a turnaround is coming for you as well.

I lost grandma on my father's side on New Year's Eve; I like to think they won one for grams (the Gipper's had plenty).

I'm just watching the recruiting threads for now, you guys are always so involved and in the know. It appears we've landed some good Offensive talent or expect to, I'm hoping the D gets a li'l shored up too, didn't we have some depth issues? I'll pay more attention as signing day comes in and get your opinion on how we should be sitting on the depth chart then.

Malik Zaire is huge, literally. He looks like a LB with RB speed taking snaps. He is going to be tough for defenses to deal with.
