I'm not sure where you got those numbers, because they don't coincide with Rivals' rankings.

Since 2005 these have been their rankings:

2005: 5
2006: 20
2007: 13
2008: 30 (Bo's first year so he didn't get a full period to recruit)
2009: 28
2010: 22

Avg: 19.67

Joined B1G in 2011

2011: 15
2012: 25
2013: 17
2014: 32
2015: Currently 38

avg of first 4 years: 22.25(doesn't include 2015)

After a good initial surge, it's dipped back. And you could argue the 2011 class shouldn't belong to the B1G because they started recruiting those kids before Nebraska joined.(unless Nebraska doesn't recruit juniors)

Oops. Was on 24/7, not Rivals

Despite that, using recruiting rankings from the previous coach in the average makes no sense whatsoever.

Virgina tech laughs at ohio state being a top big ten team.

While that loss to VT (an ACC school) was awful how about your Longhorns losing back-to-back meetings to/ BYU?

A difference of 2.5 spots? I'd hardly call that "taking a hit". :L

Fair enough, I was just trying to span it over a decade of recruiting. And it looks as though Nebraska is on the verge of having their worse class yet in 2015, of course that could change, we'll see how they close.

While not that big of a difference, it doesn't seem to be trending in Nebraska's favor at the moment. I'm not sure if they can get into the top 30 at this point.

LOL you don't really believe that, do you?

I absolutely do. There are a ton of football players in the state, but it has only been able to ever support the 2 premier brands. Theres plenty of talent to fill out rosters, but that elite talent that creates national championship caliber teams, theres only enough for 2 programs from TX. Thats still a lot more than every other state besides CA and FL.

The problem with that is that the classes that Callahan signed were more the exception than the norm for Nebraska. He was a great recruiter if you look at the rankings. Terrible coach though.

Meh. Big 12 still has no major media markets outside of Texas and is still dominated by Texas politically. We'll see if this conference holds up for the long term or not.

You know I hear this so much. "Texas controls the conference."

Yeah, ok. :thumb:

Texas didn't control our 8 conference titles.
Texas didn't control OU being selected for the title game in 2008.
Texas didn't control OU making 8 bcs bowls.
Texas didn't control OUs third teir rights when they sold them to fox.

The one thing Texas did control is whipping nebraska's ass like clockwork.

We're not a good Big 12 team the last five years, or the BYU losses would prove my argument wrong.

I have said for years that Oklahoma/Nebraska should be a yearly game just like when Nebraska was in the Big 8 and Oklahoma played Texas every year. No reason not to. Would eliminate the need to schedule an extra OOC game every year..

Could even do a home/home/neutral site setup with Dallas/KC/someplace in BIG country, as the rotating neutral site. I mean, WTF is wrong with that idea that it isn't happening.

Sorry, the Oklahoma AD at the time of the formation of the Big 12 said that Oklahoma could not possibly play Nebraska and Texas in the same year. BTW, that AD was a real good friend of Deloss Dodds.

Bud Wilkinson did pretty well playing both Nebraska and Texas.
Chuck Fairbanks did pretty well playing both Nebraska and Texas.
Barry Switzer did pretty well playing both Nebraska and Texas.

76-39 = 37 points

Yet your piece of shit shorthorns could only muster up a (28-25) win a week earlier.

Texas lost to UCLA (66-3). That's 63 point beatdown from hell.

Just be quiet on this one.

Bob Stoops would always sing the same tune, scared to death of playing both teams.

BTW, the writer is a KNOWN Nebraska hater.

Bo Pelini hates that little twit. Bo Pelini has even called Dirk out. It all came to a head in 2011 when Chatelain wrote and called out Pelini and Taylor Martinez. Then, Taylor Martinez played a very good game against Ohio State, which Nebraska won.

Chatelain made the mistake of being a prick in the post game conference and asked a question about Taylor Martinez and Bo Pelini took offense, as did some of the other media members.

Bob Stoops was not at Oklahoma in 1993 - 1994 - 1995 during the formation of the Big 12.

The Big 12 powers opted to discontinue the game that had defined the Big 8. Why destroy the game that had defined the Big 8 brand? Every TV in America watched Oklahoma/Nebraska on Thanksgiving. Which game was voted the GAME of the CENTURY?

Remember, now it is all about branding. IMHO, the Big 12 made a bad decision.

Not exactly sure what the Big 12 brand game is now? Kansas State playing Baylor? TCU playing West Virginia?

Show us where Osborne was wanting to play Oklahoma and Texas every year.
I'll wait.
