Interested in a new 10-team Big East for football?

It would be a 6th power conference and alleviate the ridiculous amount of teams in the ACC and Big Ten. I know it's far fetched, but it'd be pretty cool. You can add/subtract which teams you'd like to see in it/out of it I guess. Big XII model. Round robin schedule and top-2 play for the conference championship; and the winner gets a spot in my 8-team playoff. Notre Dame to the Big Ten? Take a team out of my new Big East and insert Notre Dame? I've always thought ND belonged in the Big Ten and Penn St should have been in the original Big East, but politics or something interfered.

Miami wouldn't bolt the ACC without Florida State. Florida State would bolt the ACC...so would Georgia Tech.
So you could subtract Cincy and UCF...and add FSU and Ga Tech. If ND would play in that Big East version you could also dump Boston College.

That would be a decent league.

if you’re going to have a shitty football conference, you’ll want teams the “big boys” can beat.
Since Creighton hasn’t fielded a football team since 1942, they would be an easy win for about half the teams you listed.

A couple of points:

A) You can't build a new "Big East" for football because that name belongs to a basketball conference that no longer has any affiliation to the former members you mentioned.

B) There is no 8-team college football playoff.

And two more big points:

C) Most of those teams would have to pay out the wazoo to leave their current conferences and/or leave their television rights behind.

D) All those teams would lose the ability to collect on the NCAA basketball royalties due them from their former conferences and would not be guaranteed an automatic bid into the NCAA tournament.
