He should be 100% by training camp. Of course with our luck, he probably will never play again.

I really hope the give lewis a shot. He's big and he's fast and he can catch anything thrown to him.

7-9 months before he is cleared to practice... means we cant really count on him for next year. Add WR to the laundry list. :L

well depending on how rehab goes he could be a PUP canidate or he could be ready by TC

As thin as we suddenly are for pass catchers, I expect both Lewis and Davis to be active this week in the 46 man game day roster. As for who sits, Well Hank is on IR. So basically the question becomes who do you sit out to bring Davis along??

with reed most likely out then davis should start or at least play a lot .

Despite the train wreck of a season so far, Mike is going to go down swinging apparently.

He has no choice. He is coaching for his job. That is why there will be no experimenting with players.

Probably not the smartest move though.

Desperate people rarely do the smartest things.

well let me get this all straight , mike has to have this team playing at a high level to end the season so moving players up from the taxi squad and making roster moves to replace injured players and releasing others means he is desperate ?

i am sure people on this board have linked how shanahan finishes the season to whether he remains as HC

are you guys going to accept 3-13 if he is experimenting with players ? i doubt it

I, for one, am. While I still think Shanny should get year 5, I can't argue letting him go if the last 5 games look the way last nite did.

Yup. But he DOES need to make adjustments that are visible, in all aspects of the game. He can't continue to do the same old thing. It's not working. That's what people most want to see. Outside of wins, of course.

And example would be Moss returning balls last night... Good move, why didn't it happen 5 weeks ago? That is the question. Is Shanny a stubborn dinosaur, refusing to adapt? Has the game passed him by in so far as adjusting quickly? That's what needs to be determined. And the 5 games will provide insight.

Actually at this point, I would prefer to see us playing the younger guys. If we win out and finish 8-8 but with 6-8 current starters leaving, it does us no good for next year.

Honestly at this stage what difference does it make? They have no shot at anything except perhaps not being considered the worst team in the NFC or NFL. They are not going to finish at 8-8 so really what is the difference between 3-13 and say 6-10? A few more victories would probably just be the result of some other teams (e.g. Giants) shutting it down for the season or a few very luck bounces.

Time to face reality. We can make all the excuses that we like, but this is a very, very bad team. Yes - they can turn it around next season (as several teams have done this year in the NFL). However - that remains to be seen & will require a lot of things to go their way during the offseason & perhaps some major changes. I don't want to hear the continuity excuse any longer since it only means continuation of acceptance of failure and having hope as a plan.

Time for some serious discussions and possible decisions to be made at Redskins Park. If part of this involves evaluating some new blood this season - great - most of them can't do worse then some of the current players who just appear to be going through the motions at times.

BTW - barring a miracle - why do they need the remainder of the season to evaluate these coaches? Based on the first 11 games most - if not all - of them should be fired at the end of the season. I have never seen a team look so lost as this one during the last several weeks - very sad.

8-8 will never happen. With the combination of poor QB play, poor play by both lines, spotty coverage & a complete lack of a return game I am at a loss as to how they could even string together two straight wins. Would love to be wrong (I have posted things like that numerous times & sadly have yet to be proven wrong - this team does not disappoint in that respect).

I would accept 3-13 if it meant we could enter the offseason with a very good handle on what we actually have, both in current starters and guys that are younger but haven't played much. That way we know exactly what we need. If we could find that a Gettis or Compton or Jackson or Rambo or Minnefield or Lewis or Williams could actually produce at this level, it makes a huge difference in what we target in FA and the draft. It would be an investment in the future.

the way that people flip flop on this board i highly doubt it

in essence what you are saying by not trying to win and "seeing what you have " is saying you want the HC gone by putting lipstick on a pig

not saying you are saying it jy but others on this board feel that way but just wont say it

look at jackson for instance , we KNOW what he brings to the table we saw it last year i would sit him and tapp and insert jenkins in that role . i wouldnt sit RAK or kerrigan . that sends the wrong message to the team .

sitting RG3 sends the wrong message to the team . does any naive person here think you can go to RG3 and say , "hey robert , our alleged franchise qb , we are going to sit you down so we can enhance KC's trade value "

dont woooooorry bob , you are still our guy , we just want to know what we have in KC , wink wink

I bet Rg3 will just swallow that up and it wont affect him at all in a negative light

I by no means am saying that we are trying to lose. I expect no matter who we put out there they will play to win. But how much worse can Gettis be than Chester? Or Compton than Polumbus? Or Minnifield than Wilson?

I meant to say Jenkins, not Jackson. And these guys don't have to play 100% of the snaps. We can work them in in situations over the next 5 games and still evaluate them. Rak and Kerrigan need breaks.

As far as sitting RG3 for Cousins, its never going to happen unless RG3 gets injured or he completely breaks down. But as a HC and VP of Operations, if shanahan decided to do it, you just tell him that you are shutting him down for his own sake. He is not 100% and we can't protect him adequately. He is the future of the franchise and it is the VP of Operations job to make sure that all assets are used appropriately and are safeguarded.

In any event, this is all a moot argument. Shanahan is now coaching for his job. There is no way he is going into evaluation mode. I find it interesting that Snyder has not issued any statement at all in support of Shanahan. That could be telling......

Dejavue. Skinsdad and I had the exact same debate about another QB who had been named the franchise in DC and it was widely though that nothing should be done to bruise his ego.And i will say now what I said when it was the last saviour. It sends the wrong message when your team sucks and ANY Player is still considered untouchable. Not saying you can cut griffin. But at 3-7, every body plays and possible hurt feelings be damned.
