Based on this, it certainly looks to me like the playoff is locked in stone unless something weird happens.

Bama, ND, Clemson, OSU lead first CFP rankings

Alabama is No. 1 in the initial College Football Playoff rankings, followed by Notre Dame, Clemson and Ohio State. BYU debuts at No. 14 despite a 9-0 start.

Yup, if the top 4 wins out (with Clemson beating ND), those top 4 will be in the playoff. The only question is the rankings 2-4.

Yea - Bama will have wins over A&M and the winner of the east. It won't even be close. No one in the B1G is touching tOSU. And no way ND beats Clemson again so it would seem to be locked in.

I don’t know if I like or agree with the fact that teams can be considered for the playoff with anywhere from 3 to 4 less games being played than other teams being considered. Notre Dame for example is 8-0 but yet Ohio State has played half the games and is currently also in the playoff. There won’t be a perfect way of setting it up but I feel like some of these teams should get at least a loss or two advantage over teams that are playing half the amount of games.

Only way that tOSU is left out is if they by some chance don't qualify for the B1G title game and Cinci finishes out undefeated.

I agree. A lack of games alone will not and should not eliminate them.

I do think the idea of Texas A&M going to the CFP ahead of tOSU is pretty preposterous if tOSU is unbeaten.

I'm a gator homer through and through but I think an undefeated cincy is more deserving of the 4 spot over sec ccg loser(be it bama or florida)and atm. In a shortened year like this every game is an elimination game.
