I found it interesting that Hamilton started in CF tonight in RR while Hoying played RF.
A smart organization doesnt play him in CF unless its an emergency situation at this stage
So I guess we'll see him in CF next week?
We shall see, but I bet we see him out there a couple times a week
I was trying to think of a reason why we would want him in CF? Even if we move Delino to 2B we still have Martin in CF.
When Rua comes back I could see some opportunities there for him, but it doesn't make sense. That's why I thought it was interesting.
Whats this goofy shit? Breakfast? UFC who cares
Thought: Cure the RISP failures and pitching will look a little better. ( in the win/loss column )
I loved this note about Chi Chi from Scott Lucas this morning. It shows Chi Chi is interested in becoming a better pitcher instead of just putting up impressive AAA numbers.
Chi Chi Gonzalez threw well again, albeit with another high pitch count. Beginning in the 3rd, he started the five consecutive batters 0-2 or 1-2, and retired four of them, but he ended up throwing a total of 32 pitches including ten two-strike fouls. It could be a function of what he's working on -- I saw very few two-strike sliders, seemingly his out pitch -- but these situations limit how deep he can go into the game. Gonzalez threw 97 pitches, 66 for strikes. He's averaging a touch over 17 pitches per inning in AAA, meaning a typical six-inning outing would put him over 100. Gonzalez also threw a six-pitch 2nd, so he's certainly not incapable of the quick inning.
Without Prince and Belts we have a real bad night, though Blanks and DDJ had decent nights just not much production
this team does realize that these games are 9 innings long? first 3 innings: 3 runs, 7 hits, last 6: 2hits(1 of them was an infield hit) our pitching sucks but they are getting very little support from our offense
Not news. Age old problem. Even good pitchers can't survive such offense.tis team does realize that these games are 9 innings long? first 3 innings: 3 runs, 9 hits, last 6: 2hits(1 of them was an infield hit) our pitching sucks but they are getting very little support from our offense
I think Scott was trying to say that Chi Chi is having high pitch counts because he is not using his out pitch in two strike situations. He is doing that on purpose to work on his other pitches in order to get better with those. That tells me someone told him in ST what he needed to improve on and he is doing that instead of going with his slider in order to get better throwing those other pitches. That is what impresses me. It makes his overall numbers and innings pitched not look as good, but makes him a better qualified MLB pitcher in the long run. That is a very mature outlook and plan if you ask me. That bodes well for the young man's future in this league. If he is having high pitch counts each inning at AAA then it goes to reason it will not be much better at the MLB level. We seem to have a lot of pitchers who have a hard time with their control.
Our starting pitching has done very well overall outside of Detwiler. Our offense needs improvement even if they have played over their heads at times in the last couple of weeks. Our relief pitching is a work in progress and even though some of those guys are struggling now it will help them in the future when it matters more.tis team does realize that these games are 9 innings long? first 3 innings: 3 runs, 9 hits, last 6: 2hits(1 of them was an infield hit) our pitching sucks but they are getting very little support from our offense
