June 17th (4 days from now), all teams submit their protected lists. I feel like there should logically be some medium trades taking place in the next 4 days because of this. Obviously Minnesota and Anaheim are going to lose a solid top 4 defenseman or solid young forward if they don't make moves in the next few days (Or negotiate with Vegas to not take someone).

Interesting how much of an advantage they're giving Vegas. Vegas gets the exclusive privilege of negotiating with UFA's starting June 18th - June 26, and no one can sign with any other team until July 1st.

I thought for sure there would be several trades in the NHL leading up to Expansion Draft. But it looks everyone is going to stand pat until after its over. Just the Buy-outs taking place, and probably more announcements of who is waiving their "no-trade" clause(s).

Its just a guess, but I think Drouin was unlikely to sign a long term deal with anyone other than MTL. If the Kings had got him, he probably would have bolted the minute he was eligible as a UFA.

My bad. Posted this late in the other thread. I don't know anything about that defenseman, but he must be really good.

I expect a ton more trades to go down in the next 48 hours.

Sergachev will be very good, Mtl needs a French "hero" so I think Drouin is going to be under the gun and better not start slow

Montreal loves 5'2 forwards and Russian defensemen. They've had Markov for like 20 years (And stayed with him through like 9 knee surgeries). Sergei Gonchar for awhile too.
