If this additional information is true, I wouldn't be surprised if he was fired pretty soon. I think they just gave him the 1 year to stay safe, they can always just fire him at any point once all the info comes out and is discussed.

Why would he have to disclose it though?
From a corporate/HR perspective. They have to get their ducks in a row for potential legal matters. I think that's why this has been overblown.

1 of the women was the wife of a VP in the organization.

IF this part is true, why the fuck just not fire him? I highly doubt that VP is going anywhere any time soon so its gonna be hella awkward if Udoka sticks around

Well, he did take them to the finals in his first year.

Maybe they want to see how good a deodorant winning really is?

You see who he was cheatin' on? Hell yes he f'd up. lol

Seriously though, he made the one statement, then said that he would have no further comment. That is the smartest thing he could do. Any further comments by him, just keeps this on page 1.

Well, Nia Long is 51. How old are these other women?

So, Udoka not only carried on a sexual relationship with someone else inside the organization... apparently:
  • he failed to disclose it
  • perhaps lied about it?
  • this relationship led directly to complaints of sexual harassment
Damn. Ime screwed this up huge... 150% his fault.

Unfortunately, fuck him. I doubt he ever rejoins the Celtics sideline.

He can't preach discipline to his players while showing complete lack of discipline himself.

Yes.

And it’s completely wrong.

That’s called entrapment

No it isn't. Don't fuck around with an underling and you don't open yourself up to that.

Clearly he doesn't have trouble finding attractive women.

And If he wanted to cheat with some fresh tail, he could have found someone that is not below him on the organizational depth chart.

Yup. That's why he was so stupid in this situation. All he had to do was fuck around with someone outside of the Celtics organizations. That's literally billions of people.

I wouldn't want him back on the bench next season.

Fire him and move on.

I do believe he's a married man... and I have no problem stating my opinion that this sort of thing is a crappy move for a married man.

That said: none of my business.

If he broke team rules, he should be disciplined in an appropriate manner... like anyone else in the organization. (many businesses have rules against employees canoodling)

Finally, real basketball can't get here soon enough.
May is a long ways away.

What's the penalty for her?? Might have a bit a problem here too. Can't suspend the coach and not penalize her equally.

Suspend the coach for a year and what? Suspend the female for a year with zero pay and bennies?

If they don't treat her equally, Udoka will have a potential trillion dollar lawsuit against the Celtics AND the NBA.

Same for her.

Suspend them both 30 days and tell them that any contact will be automatic termination and neither can work for any NBA associated team or company for 10 years.
Females aren't responsible for their actions. This is 2022.

The amount of people wondering why this is a big deal is a little surprising to me.

It's the year 2022, old dudes.

And we're talking a big business, which is squarely in the public spotlight, with a lot to lose.
And people in this thread are too stupid to know the judiciary is a branch of the government. HR uses counsel to write their documents and counsel uses case law and judicial precedent to inform what they write.

It doesn't make sense to suspend him for a year if they had complaints from the woman that it might not be consensual. That's easy grounds for firing. And it'd be totally stupid for them to suspend him for a year know this happened because it was always gonna leak out that there's more to the story. So either there's still pieces missing or the Celtics brain trust is really dumb
>It was consensual
>He said let's do it again
>She said no and reported it
>>You are here

Yeah there's gotta be some juicy details like maybe it was someone's wife in the organization?

But if they were gonna fire him they would have. If he was a bad coach or someone they were itching to fire anyway, he'd be fired. He's still there because he's a good coach who just got them to the finals his first year.
I think he's an excellent coach. I'm just wondering if they are worried about some legality coming back to bite them if they fire him. Seems odd to have such a stiff punishment for someone you want to keep around.

Fascinating.

Which 'case law' and/or 'judicial precedent' do you find fault with?

Be specific, if you don't mind.
