I hate the Dolphins so yeah Im glad Jets won too ha HAHAHA to all those Dolphin fans who thought the Playoffs were a sure thing at the beginning of the year.

Who said that playoffs were a sure thing? The Fin fans I know felt good about their chances but were also realistic about their bowl chances. Looking back they are a young team with promise and need to learn from their mistakes. They also have to fix the oline but that was already well known. Firing Sherman should be at the top of their list.

Looks like Shanny is done in D.C.

Washington Redskins to fire Mike Shanahan after four seasons as coach - The Washington Post

Speculation about Shanahan’s successor has focused so far on Baylor’s Art Briles, Griffin’s college coach; former Super Bowl-winning coaches Jon Gruden and Bill Cowher; former Redskins assistant and Pro Football Hall of Fame guard Russ Grimm; and current NFL offensive coordinators Ken Whisenhunt of San Diego, Greg Roman of San Francisco, Jay Gruden of Cincinnati and Darrell Bevell of Seattle.

Who do you think they'll get.....or are they keeping him?

Who do you want as HC, now that Rex is staying w/ the Jets?

Feels like Ken Wisenhunt. I'd be fine w that. Took the lowly Cards to the SB. I respect the Steeler mentality. Like what he's done for Rivers. I'd be happy.

Guy I DON'T want is Brian Kelly. Lots of rumors they love him going back 2 seasons now. That scares me.

How can I be the only jet fan upset that they are keeping rex... I understand with an 8-8 season they had no other choice but to keep him, but i was hoping they would have been brave enough to fire him even with a good record...

They may have been 8-8, but 7 of those losses were absolute embarassments...

The real problem with keeping rex, is that you know all he cares about is his defense... Do you(other jet fans) have any confidence that during the draft this year they will get what they need?? Of course what they need is to give geno support with the offense- get WRs, get a new RB, rebuild the offensive line... Yes that is too many things to do during the draft, but you know with Rex, they will decide to draft defense instead...

Anyone who says Rex does not have input in team decisions is just teasing themselves... he has a voice- maybe not the final one- but he certainly is one of the more important people in making a decision on the team...

If he had even a tiny bit of input tebow would have never been a jet. Rex has no say whatsoever.

I was rooting for you to fire him, though. Without Rex that's a 3 win team.

Props to OP yoga...glad you see your season as positive. Nice finish.

My biggest knock on the Jets has been the disaster that is Mark Sanchez. After a couple/few seasons it was clear as day that he wasn't gonna develop....then they gave him that big $$$ deal. Cripes.

Geno may not be the final answer but that change sure did save what you guys had left for a season.

...for finishing the season 8-8, and for beating the Miami Dolphins 20-7 on the road, and knocking them out of the postseason.
They also proved all the "experts" and critics wrong, by winning more than the 4 or 5 games predicted.

Geno and the Gang Green stepped up today with a great win.

Lots of positive things for this team moving forward.

Rex Ryan deserves at least one more year.

LMAO proud of 8-8. I agree keep Rex in the division as long as he is there the Pats are assured the division.

Rex isn't the GM. Many of the bad Jets losses were Geno straight up gift wrapping INTs. The Jets offense was abysmal. No playcaller in the world could've made it work. Their o-line is below average, the QB is a rookie that isn't a very good passer and the targets he is passing to are a collection of number 3 or 4 receivers. Again, nothing to do with Rex.

I understand rex is not the GM... But it is still rex's team, he is a defensive coach who does not care about offense, I have a hard time believing the GM doesnt get the coaches input before he makes his decision... and you know rex will campaign for a defensive player... What the Jets need, is what i wanted them to do last season, and that is get rid of rex, sign a offensive minded coach, and pay the money for a QB specialist to be a qb coach... What rex and the Jets did to sanchez was horrible(it is irrelevant if he could have evolved or not)...

The only reason Rex is still there is because management is scared of what giving Rex the boot may lead to.

Rex Ryan is an incomplete coach.

I think he has been at times "brilliant". Other times not so brilliant. I think he is learning.

The problem with keeping or firing him is he you don't know if he will grow more as a coach by getting more time or getting fired and re-grouping.

Whether he gets fired or not, it would not be the last time we would see him as a head coach.

Based on what he did this year, I'd say his team exceeded expectations. I'd say that doing better than expectations with a bad team is an improvement over doing not as well as expected with a good team. Therefore he is showing improvement and I'd give him more time to show more of the "brilliance"

Rex has had bad teams the past 3 season and has done better with them than their talent. When they went 6-10, they really had 1-15 type talent. Their QB was awful, they had a terrible offensive scheme, and injuries to the best players.

This was a young team and they got better at the end. They play hard for Rex and I think hes a good coach. He has a good OC now to run the offense, the problem is that they had no talent on offense this season. Look at our Wrs, we had the worst group in the NFL. We need 2 starting WRs this offseason and a TE.

Get the offense some talent and Marty will do a good job coaching them. He had our rushing attack ranked #6 this season. We need to improve the passing game.

Geno ended the season on a high not. He played his best in the final 4 games. The Jets will probably bring competition at the position, but tehy have to get skill talent because no one was succeeding with the WRs we had at some points of this season.

I believe that the Rex and Marty combination is good enough to win, but they have to get some talent.

We'll have possibly 12 draft picks and tons of cap space to make improvements this offseason, its up to Idzik to improve the teams talent now.

I'm proud of the Jets too, and the Bengals. Well, at least the Jets. I had to start hating the Bengals a few hours after they helped us into the playoffs.
