A great game planner would've probably won that game. They had the QB advantage. I actually thought they'd win. He still played it too conservative. in fairness though it was a minor miracle that they made the playoffs. That was supposed to be a rebuilding (i.e. losing) season. The next logical step in progression would be to get a playoff W. I think they'll get it. If not this year they should be primed for the next. Either way they're headed in the right direction. Scrapping the 05 model and starting over was the best thing that happened to this franchise. If they were still trying to win with Carson and Chad I would give them zero chance of playoff success in the immediate future.

Reinard Wilson had more talent than any player on the Bengals current roster besides AJ Green. He just pissed it away. He also didn't have much help. And by that I mean he didn't have any help. I believe if he was drafted by almost any other team he woulda been a special player. That's how bad this organization is.

'05 Carson/Chad is infinitely better than '12 Dalton/Green. Tell me I'm wrong.

Brees doesnt have that great of an arm. Neither does Brady. what makes them great is that they totally understand what is happening around them. They're smart and have enough talent to be great. If being a great QB was just physical measurables then jamarcus Russell woudl be all world...and yes, I am wasted.

Clearly. Brees has a cannon and Brady is probably the greatest pocket passer and pocket manueverer (real word?) you'll ever see in your lifetime.

in 05, yeah, they were awesome. Then Carson got hurt and really regressed mentally. My point was that the Bengals stopped acting like it was still 2005 and moved on. That window closed. It took Carson to make ridiculous demands for it to happen...but moving on from both those guys instead of trying to rekindle 05 was the best thing that happened for the Bengals.

And Brady just set the single season passing yard record. Yes, you're wasted. Yes, we all feel your pain as a Bengals fan. I'll give you a pass til after the first pre-season game. After that I'm calling you a fucking idiot.

I think Brees and Dalton are pretty similar as far as arm strenght goes. If you watch Dalton he can get it there. He'll put some zip on his throws. What makes Brees head and shoulders better at this point is not his arm but his brain. If you transplanted Drew Brees' brain into Andy Dalton's body they'd be the same QB. Whether Dalton can be that kind of leader is what remains to be seen...but he's got better intangibles than the flaky Palmer.

I'm saying that Dalton will never reach that pinnacle. I think Green can with a little luck. He's gonna have to do it in spite of his surroundings (like Chad did). Do I think Green will have comparable #'s to Chad? No. Not unless he plays out his rookie contract and bolts.

Well yeah....he's only been under this regime for a year. Give him a few more years, a few more hits, a few more injuries, a few more press conferences, a few more front office gaffe's, a few more Marvin post game quotes, a few more botched special team 4th quarter plays, a few more dropped passes and he'll be right there where poor Carson ended up. I'm sure you understand. They're a product of their environment. And this environment is SHIT.

Agree. The culture is the worst. And that is the question. Is Dalton the type of guy that can elevate above being Bengalzied? Is it possible? I dont know. But I think of all the young QB's Dalton has the best makeup to rise above it. He's smart and doesnt seem to be nearly as introspecitve as Palmer. If there was a time that the Bengals could be a good team it's now. They've managed to put together a young corp of talent. They've got decent coaching and they've got a young QB with gumption. All in all I'll take it.

God love your drunk ass. No, he'll be chewed up and spit out. In fact,,,I'm gonna guarantee that in 3 years or less the Bengals are drafting a new qB or signing one in FA to replace his sorry ass. He has no chance. Zero. Green will absolutely be gone if he can avoid the dreaded tag too. There's no doubt about that. It just is what it is. It aint never gonna change. that's not the whiskey talking, either. It really isn't until Mike kicks the bucket,,,and even after that there's no guarantee. This organization is like a diseases with no cure and I truly feel sorry for these few young men that were recently drafted by them. May god have mercy on their souls.

don't feel too sorry for them...they still get paid more money than I'll ever make in a year to play a game and take months off. It's not like they're getting dropped off on the shores of Normandy circa 44. But I'll digress and this is where we'll disagree. I think Green is all world and will be in that Fitzgerald, Andre Johnson caliber. His talent will overcome his circumstances. Mike Brown is old...and will die soon. Dalton is the type of dude that you would hire. So all things considered, they're in the best situatin they pssoibly could be in. If they were that bad, they wouldnt have Green, Dalton etc. they would've screwed all those picks up. So it's not hopeless. I should say that I am an optimistic person by nature though and even the bengals have made me jaded...not as jaded as you but it's not like I'm a totally blind homer. they're trending up. How far up is the question.

You can't call it a miracle to make the playoffs and then call the next logical step in progression to get a playoff win. If they go 8-8 this season, let alone make the playoffs, I'd say they exceeded expectations.

I'd give this team about a 25% chance of besting 8-8 this season and I'd say that's a fairly optimistic expectation. I think they win 5 games. Schecule is too tough. Team is too weak. This is a passing league....our passing game is weak. Our coach is weak. Our front office is weak. No, there's no hope. I hope I'm wrong. I know I'm not.

He's just living the dream. Was he given a "hall pass" is the question.

No doubt. I'm jealous. I've received approximately 50 disapproving looks within the last 10 hours alone.
