I think some of you guys are going to be surprised by what Bradford ends up making (Guaranteed) if allowed to hit the market. Heck, look at Maclin last year ... huge demand and almost no supply.

Agreed.

The second half of Bradford's year was very good. It actually looks like this over 16 games...

402/590
68 comp%
4478 yards
7.6 YPA
23 TDs
9 Interrceptions

Which would place him:

6th in yards
3rd in completion %
11th in YPA
16th in TDs
12th in TD:INT ratio

Bradford was also 4th in plays over 40 yards on the year.

A lot to like and build on.

And those #'s are "in spite" of all the drops. I gave him a lot of flack for his first half, but he looked like a different QB once he got his feet under him. You have to remember, not only was he coming back from the injury ... it was a whole new system that he was learning.

So if you franchise him for somewhere in the $23-25M area, and he fails, you have a one time sunk cost and your back to square one next year.

If you franchise him and he is successful, your probably looking at one of those $100M sort of contracts next year with $30-40M guaranteed.

If you sign him to a multiyear deal now. Say 3 years, $60M with $30M guaranteed and he fails, you are out an extra $7-10M by cutting him after one year.

If you sign him to a multi year and he is successful, you have him at a good rate for the next three years, probably much cheaper than that multi-year contract will cost you next year.

So Fail you lose $5-7M more on a multi year deal.

or Success you save as much as $20 on a mult year deal.

I would offer the multi-year deal over the franchise tag. The upside seems better than the downside IMO.

Unless your really think he will fail and your just looking for a bridge to the young guy.

It's not weather or not we "should" sign him to this 3 year deal ... it's weather he would accept it if there is another team out there that would offer him 5 and more guaranteed money. Bradford's in the driver's seat if we don't tag him for the reasons I've mentioned in previous posts.

A reporter today tweeted that Bradford is like the last slice of pizza. Everyone ignored it and found another option more appetizing. But when it's the last one, people will fight over it.

Some douchy reporter that made up his mind before the season was over...

Bradford puts the ball on the money. That skill costs money.

Not only did he start putting the ball on the money much more often, but he was getting the ball out much quicker as he became more comfortable with the Offense. That's a big reason I think they want to keep Shurmer ... tweak the Offense to suit player strengths better, but also keep the plays Bradford (assuming we can keep him) is comfortable with.

Hire a defensive minded head coach that would keep Shurmur as the OC. That is easier said than done. A coach should be able to choose his own coaching staff......otherwise you have that fiasco that is otherwise known as the Dallas Cowboys.

I agree that bringing Shurmur back would be good for the offense if both Sam and Pat want to come back.

That is who I am looking at strongly in round 1! trying to watch as much tape as i can on him before I seriously comment about him.

Whoever takes over, maybe we trade back to get a 2nd round pick, then take Wentz in the late 20's, assuming he is still there. If not, then maybe go for Mayfield in the 2nd round.

Tools - wise Wentz has everything you want ... pretty similar to Cam Newton. NFL readiness - wise he has a long way to go. I doubt he makes it out of Rd 1 due to potential, so we would have to take him at 13. He needs a year on the bench before he's ready to contribute, so if we take him and don't Franchise Bradford we're likely looking at a full year of Sanchez (uhhgghh).

If that's the case, then I'd draft Treadwell, and pick up a young QB in the 3rd round, like Mayfield?

Treadwell would be a great pick IMO. He could be a true #1 WR. Then we can use Matthews as the #2 he is and put Agholor or Huff in the slot, where they belong. They are not outside WRs at this level.

We've already spent 3 top draft picks on WRs in the last 2 years. The Chiefs, Panthers, Patriots, Seahawks and Steelers have spent one on any of the guys they threw to this year OVERALL. That's over half the teams left. The Broncos have spent 2. Drafting WRs/TEs early is not how you build a successful, competitive football team. We've drafted 4 in 3 years!

Patriots - Gronk, 2nd
Steelers - Wheaton, 2nd
Chiefs - Conley, 3rd
Seahawks - Lockett, 3rd
Panthers - Funchess, 2nd
Broncos - Thomas and Latimer, both 1sts

Eagles - Ertz, Matthews, Agholor, Huff, a 1st, two 2nds and 3rd

No wonder the Oline sucks, has no depth, and the secondary can't stop anybody.

Well, I am with you on upgrading the o-line, and I think we need MULTIPLE picks there, but that doesn't necessarily mean a first rounder. I would be OK with one provided it was the right one, but this team needs to rebuild, it has plenty of question marks.
