You’re still leaning on one football game where you admit the defense changed up the looks and employed press. They got them on a scheme adjustment. Let’s see what happens when the Vikings catch them again and how they adjust.
Yes they changed because they gave JJ a free release and literally nobody was covering him across the middle of the field for multiple plays. It was obvious a jam in man on man with JA would shut him down easily and I was correct.
I expect the Vikes to do what they can to prevent this from happening by moving him around, slot, bubble screens, etc. Unless he believes he has trained and upgraded his skill set to beat the Jam which I highly doubt.
Overall, the man to man press coverage can still be an effective tool as proven against the so called best WR in the game last year. This tool doesn't need to be utilized all the time but should be used especially against top tier WR's who haven't proven they can beat it like JJ and Smith. Again, it doesn't mean they can't eventually figure it out it just means they haven't YET.
