It's a long shot for certain, but one well worth exploring. Right now, outside of Young and TM I don't see anyone else as untouchable. This defensive line has garnered some national attention and as such one or two of them could be included in any trade, thereby eliminating the need to give up more draft picks than would typically be spent. Thoughts?

It is a long shot for certain but I like Watson A LOT. If we can keep Snyder out of negotiations perhaps we can make this long shot a shorter shot.

I think Rivera bought himself a good 12 months with the division championship.

According to local media, behind closed doors Dan is in the fight of his life to retain ownership of the Skins.

The last thing he needs is another bad PR hit based on the football side of things, especially after the Haskins fiasco.

Rivera, Smith, and the playoff run are the only good press he's getting right now. He needs Rivera right now. Plus he was essentially Joe Gibbs' hire. We all know how Dan feels about Joe.

My biggest concern is WHY AND THE HELL are they treating Kyle Smith like he's a dirty dish rag.

I'd hate to see Bethard 2.0

Cooley swears Kyle is the McVay of our front office.

I think its like 19 million if its after June 1st
Wow! "Love me some eleven," but this needs to be it. I hope he retires and Dan gives him a job upstairs so we can keep him in the building.

I would trade Allen/Payne, Ion, and and a first...resign Settle and keep either Allen or Payne.
I think that it's doable as well although Houston might need something in draft capital in the mix. Which 1st are you offering? 2021 or 2022?

yes we can keep this d/line together . we have the cap space this year and we will next year as well. if you trade settle as well as payne or allen you have made you d/line half of what it is taking away it big advantage . ( BU's settle and RK combined for 11 sacks while allen or payne had 2 ) so you would have to draft really well from round 3 -7 for the next few years at d/line to get that or LB play would have to increase a lot
Not trading Payne and Allen, but if I have to in order to get Watson, then it has to be Payne. I man will be back next year and then there's the draft to help in replacing what's lose in a move like this.

My thoughts, keep Allen, Payne, Settle & Ioman together...
Would love to do that too! However, we're talking about getting Deshaun Watson in return. Houston will want something substantial in either personnel, draft capital, or some combination of both. Would you NOT make a trade with the Texans? What do you give up?

I believe Allen & Payne will be the combo here for a long time. Ionman or Settle with picks in a trade would possibly work. I would like to keep Young, Allen, Payne & Sweat together. Keep drafting replacements on the interior.
Sorry, I didn't see this before responding to your other post. Settle and I-man in a trade for Watson? Well, they will also want something in the draft, your offer?

There's a lot of saber rattling going on in Houston. Front office shakeups, Coaching changes, players still angered over losing guys that they didn't want to lose via trade. Big name players (JJ Watt and D. Watson) making it pretty clear that they want out and real pressure on the organization to hire people who they hope will convince these two cornerstones to buy in and stay.

One really good thing that I can say about Snyder is that he will do what's necessary, from a financial aspect, to get players that they want. (See: Albert Haynesworth, et al.)

My offer: Settle, (2) 1st (2021/2022), 3rd (2021) & 5th (2022) for Watson.

I cant think of any single player in the league that I would trade 3 draft picks and a player for, watson included.

That is too much capital.

I also wonder if the difference brtween the two scenarios: +watson, -3 draft picks, or no watson but all those draft picks is even that great.

there’s bound to be a qb on the market who would cost less than that but be serviceable or better, that the WTF’s could get that would be able to help the team and wouldnt cost them so many assests.

For those who think we can keep all of our DL...

Kenny Clark signed a 4 year, 70 million dollar contract. I think Allen, Payne, and Ion are better than Clark. It will cost at least that to keep any of them when they come due.

Allen will be a FA after next season, and I would suggest he will be at a minimum...18 million per season.
Payne will be a FA after 2022, and I would suggest he will be at a minimum...19 million per season.
Ioannidis will be a FA after 2022, and I would suggest he will be at a minimum...15 million per season.
Settle will be a FA after 2021. He is a bit trickier. Expect minimum...12 million.

Joey Bosa signed a 5 year, 135 million.

Sweat will be a FA after 2023, and I would expect him to push a minimum...30 million per season.
Young will push 35 million per season when he comes around.

To keep that DL together, that is nearly 130 million each season. We can’t keep them all. When will we learn to trade while value is high and we have quality in house replacements? We need a QB. Watson could be that guy for the next 10 years, throwing to TM, and being protected by Scherff.

That's a lot, but considering what Washington gets, I can't argue with it.

So you don’t think very highly of Watson then. QBs that are as good as I see in Watson don’t hit the market...unless they are 38-40 years old.

i agree with you that it would be impossible to keep them all. All the Dt's should be on the table for a trade for Watson or Stafford.

For Watson, yes. Stafford no.
